You're right, Durly, best find a sub!

The Who Live at Leeds is unquestionably the greatest live album ever recorded. The raw power and barely contained mayhem are almost enough to make you miss the incredibly high level of virtuosity on display.

Other five star live recordings:

Allman Brothers at Fillmore East
Little Feat Waiting for Columbus
Richard Thompson Semi-Detached Mock Tudor (insanely great guitar work)
Elton John 11-17-70

Forgot about Fillmore East which is a classic

Love The Who & was prvileged to be at the Live at Leeds concert, still prefer some of their studio albums

Got all the Feat albums, once again I prefer their studio works

Haven't got the Thompson/Elton albums....I'll have to investigate those live ones

Thanks for turning me on to the Don Covay. Great stuff.

The guitar lead that starts at about 4:30 is amazing:

I love U2's early albums & Blood Red Sky was a belter, The Edge at his best imo!

I picked up a bowler friend of mine on the way to our bowls match the other day, he has eight guitars strewn around his house, loves his music. He was blown away by the Stones Ya Ya's album blasting out in my car. His words "the best rock 'n' roll band in the world. I also love their blues stuff" He loved the Keith Richard/Mick Taylor guitar work on their 'live' album. He was also impressed with the guitar skills on the Don Covay album I had on in my car the previous week

People think of the Stones as a pop band, they are much more than that 8-)

David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk
Jane McDonald - Live at the London Palladium :luv:
Faithless - Live at the NIA Birmingham ( not sure this counts as Faithless recorded every concert on their 2010 tour, only selling the albums at the relevant concerts...but it is a 'live' album :-D )
Abba - Live ( again, not sure if this one counts either, as Abba never wanted to do a live album. But the fans kept pleading so several producers etc got together and 'put' this together. It's live tracks from lots of different concerts and tv shows, so although it is Abba 'Live', it is in fact a studio put together album of Abba performing live.)
