How do you define a "big club"?
Trophies won, worldwide support, social media followers etc etc.
Lots of clubs regard themselves as big clubs outside of the top flight.
Sheffield Wednesday etc
But the trophies won debate is an interesting one.
How far back can your trophies go to still count towards your big club claim?
Preston are historically a successful club, but most of there trophies were well over half a century ago.
Or Huddersfield, 3 time top flight champions back in the 1920s and 30s.
Sooo who is a big club not in the top flight and why?
Yeah I've read that.1964white wrote:SKY TV consider us to be a big club
They have us above the majority of premiership clubs
Think we are widely accepted as a traditional big club.
But it was more inspired by Wolfpacs "sleeping giant" comment.
Successful club Wolves, but as i said, i dont consider them a big club. Is that fair or unfair?
Theres a few clubs who are labelled big i dont agree with . Think its an age thing.
Big supporter base
Fans from other clubs turn up when we play them
TV companies broadcast our games
If I say that Leeds is a big club, and a rival fans asks 'what makes a club big', I respond 'if you have to ask, yours isn't'.
However in the end it doesn't really matter that much to me. I don't care if a rival fan doesn't regard Leeds as a big club, and I don't care if they regard their own club as a big club. It doesn't harm anyone if they feel that way.
