Voted by the Midlake convert, had Trials on today, really wanted that v Ziggy as the final but hey I’d rather let Mrs 64 deal with the balls!
Good man

What a band, two cracking albums

Courage is my favourite, sheer essence :luv:

I love August & Van Occupanther so it's a real toss-up for me

Bowie is a legend in my eyes, so many memories relating to the Ziggy album however I play Courage much more these days so my choices are :

The Trials Of Van Occupanther
The Courage Of Others

You might have 2 in the final yet! Most of my faves fell at the first hurdle

Because they are two great albums

Van Occupanther has very much a 70's feel

Courage is much more folky & requires at least 7 or 8 listens, a real grower & once it grabs you you're hooked !

50 reviewers on Amazon reckon Van Occupanther is 5 star
42 reviewers on Amazon reckon Courage is 5 star

So we're not the only ones whom love the Midlake sound

Disregard at your peril !

I'm with Riot on Midlake, and it is not often that I agreed with him.

Well I don't agree with him on this one

Don't get the anti-Midlake thing as they have been compared to the likes of Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, America, Neil Young, Fairport Convention, all artists enjoyed by the majority of us on here

It's not as if they are a total different genre such as R&B/Soul/Rap/Reggae/Punk/Grunge/etc :?

Tough this. I have a soft spot for all 4 of these albums for different reasons. Was never a big fan of Counting Crows but when I met my (then future) wife, she had this album on almost constant rotation and I grew to really like it. Midlake, I have loved since Van Occupanther and this and Courage are their best two albums by a country mile. I'm hugely surprised they've got this far mind. ............and Ziggy is (probably) my favourite album and one of the best albums ever, in my humble opinion..........but it's up against one of my favourite albums of the last 10-15 years.

Sooo.................I'm going.........

The Courage Of Others
The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust

But, to be honest, it could just have easily gone the other way.

looks like an all Midlake final as we've already had one voter more than the Quarters...

Agree with you Durly all four albums are superb in their own right, never tire of any of them tbh

I'm also surprised how well Midlake/Crows have done but the majority of our players obviously rate them which is very refreshing to see quality beyond the great albums that were released 50 years ago. In a way although I'm probably Bowie's biggest fan on here apart from your good self I'm so pleased that a different album is about to win one of our contests :-D

SEMI-FINALS

FINAL SCORES

August & Everything After 4-5 The Courage Of Others
The Trials Of Van Occupanther 5-4 The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust

Voted - Bob, Durly, Faaip, Gandi, Ges, John, Norfolk, Mrs 64, 64

I might be wrong but if either of the semi's had gone to a tie I'd have asked BB to cast the decisive vote, I reckon our young lady would have voted for the Midlake albums too !
