Tomorrow's left and right back, and midfield conundrum

Post by 8ballali »

Given that Ayling is injured, and Anita has been inconsistent at left-back, and with De Bock not available tomorrow, will Berardi have to play LB again, will Alioski or Anita cover? Or could I get my wish, and Tyler Denton get a start at LB, with Berardi at RB?
What do you guys and gals think? Could those two positions decide tomorrow's match, or will the position Phillips plays be the key?

Not sure it's a conundrum, always next man up for me and in this case I'd expect Anita at RB and Beradi at LB. O'Kane and Phillips in the middle.

TC is fairly predictable and the only mild shock would be to see Klich start, which he absolutely should

Can't see it tbh 8ball

Lost his place at Port Vale back in October so I assume the PV manager didn't consider him good enough at League One level

He was recalled to Elland Road on 3rd January 2018 due to family reasons.

I want to see Berardi at RB, so the strongest we have in the squad to play LB for me. Not sure how Denton as been doing. Still think Dallas could do a job there. Think he will play Anita on the right and Berardi on the left.

Given that Alioski plays left wing-back for his country, should he be considered for the left-back spot?

He's still been giving us a tremendous work-rate, but his crosses into the box have been poor lately. Maybe his crossing would improve again for being on the other side too.

Suspect we will revert to type.
O'Kane in midfield with Phillips and Anita to right back.

But I'd love TC to try something slightly changed.

Dallas . . Jansson . . Coops . .Bera.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . Anita . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . Klich . . . . . . . Phillips . . .
Ali . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Pablo
. . . . . . . . . . . . . Roofe . . . . . . . . . .

Dallas is a solid player, nothing spectacular but je will give his all. Anita is an Ajax graduate and would be a calming influence on the ball. Klich has shown he can pick a pass and similar to Anita is calm. Phillips is all energy and racing about but not the best on the ball. Klich and Anita can try and control the middle and Phillips can do the racing about.

Alioski is out of form but is our only pacey outlet.

Only as a wing back which would mean 3 CB with Vierra out. I Think you'll see Alioski missing far more than Ayling ever is..

Or keeping our usual formation, Klich and Anita, with Phillips in the number ten role, giving us more closing down upfield too.

There is a very real possibility that we could start with Shaunie and Phillips vs Millwall.

Lord help us.

Unless Anita drops in with Phillips. Or is Viera available for that one?
To be fair, Shaughnessy was looking better yesterday. Maybe the experience he's getting is doing him good, and helping him improve quicker. I'd be happier with him or Anita partnering Phillips, than Klich. Klich has a lot to prove.

Thought Shaughnessy was pretty anonymous myself, bar a few headers.

Rather play Phillips and Anita, don't expect Vieira to start, TC rarely starts players just back from injury.
