The Killers 'Mr Brightside'
I was considering Mr Brightside for my 2000's nomination :-D I know Leon will vote for it so that's a definite three votes for the Killers song :moggy:

Was caught in three minds, whether another Killers track I like, Franz Ferdinand, or this. Your Fleetwood Mac, "The Chain", will be getting my vote, at some stage :)

An almost impossible task but.....OK, I've gone for a single and album track from each decade !

60s
1. Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put a Spell on You
2.Led Zep - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You

70's
1. Slade - Cum on Feel the Noize
2. Rainbow - Catch the Rainbow (got to be the Munich 1977 live version though !)

80's
1. The Pogues - Sally Maclennane
2. The Stone Roses - Made of Stone

90's
1. Pulp - Common People
2. The Verve - Weeping Willow

00's
1. MSPs - Autumnsong
2. City and Colour - Sorrowing Man

Some may like, some may hate. If anything divides opinion then it is often musical taste !

Thanks JiL.

I've seen The Pogues a good few times over the years........but one concert in 89/90 at the Brixton Academy I would rate as one of the best (if not the best) concert I ever been to for raw emotion and atmosphere. Shane was still relatively with it at that point, Joe Strummer made a guest appearance and every other person that wasn't in a tour/gig t-shirt was wearing a Celtic shirt.

Hi Cat

The ruling is one song to be nominated in each decade so five songs in all

Please delete one of those songs in each decade & save them for the next round of the contest

Cheers

Only got to see them once (in San Francisco) and Shane wasn't there, alas. Joe Strummer sang lead. Fantastic performance. They were so nuts people would lose sight of just what great musicians they all are.

You're right Cat initially the contest use to be two songs then I reduced it to one song making the competition easier for to manage

Love the Zepp song from their debut album of course & I'm a massive fan of the underrated Slade.
I nominated 'Coz I Luv You' in one of the earlier rounds unfortunately it didn't do as well as I expected, great song all the same

I'm not going to post my other three nominations up as you should know them

This one is a cracker from a superb album. Ges will testify that

Beautiful R&B/soul song from the Fugees vocalist....probably doomed from the off

With Gandi & Richard on their holidays I'm unsure if they will post up their nominations

Still waiting for the young lady to post up her nominations so I may start the voting once BB's noms are in
