o/t British outrage at Yorkshire puddings v Dutch babies

Post by HarryofOz »

The story has made the Guardian outline

Outrage.

So was it EB's 'Debate' thread from the other day that awakened the storm? :)

Mrs 64 cooks the best roast potatoes, fluffy in the middle & crispy on the outside

Very few restaurants cook them right & carvery's fail every time

Our failure to serve a proper Yorkshire pudding with roast beef is one of the reasons why I'm pretty certain we Americans are philistines.

On the other hand.............

While roasted potatoes are wonderful*, nothing tops my buttermilk mashed potatoes, and we do not ruin the flavor of a beautiful rare prime rib of beef by covering it in gravy.

* I would, however, love to try Mrs64's. :)

Yorkshire puddings are well over rated...bit of an after thought :sick:
Most plagiarists, like the drone, have neither taste to select, industry to acquire, nor skill to improve, but impudently pilfer the honey ready prepared, from the hive......

WC Fields was asked once if he liked kids. "Depends on how they're cooked," he replied.
