Spain sacked head coach Julen Lopetegui after he was named the new Real Madrid boss - two days before their opening World Cup match against Portugal.

Russia v Saudi Arabia

Not a mouth-watering opening game however it will be interesting how good or bad the lowly seeded home nation team are ?

Can the Saudi's cause a bit of a shock even they are rated higher ? in fact the Russian's are the lowest seeded team in the tournament

Will Russia make the last 16 ?

MOT's tipster predictions

8 - Russia
2 - Saudi Arabia
4 - Draw

Who do you think will win the 2018 World Cup ?
France or Brazil

Which team do you not want to win the tournament ?
Germany

How far will England go ?
Semi-final. Feeling good about their chances this time. More team speed and a more coherent game plan than I've seen in an England side in a long time.

Will you be watching intently ?
Absolutely, especially England, France, and Mexico

Anyone on here who are not that bothered about the World Cup ?
I am that bothered.

Russia lead 2-0 at half-time

Saudi's give the ball away too cheaply & look shaky at the back, one quick break was the only highlight of their first 45 minutes

Sublime goal off the outside off his boot from Cheryshev to make it 4-0 in added-on time

I predicted 3-0 Russia.

After this season following Leeds, I guess I'm used to being reduced to wishing that games were only 85 minutes long.
