Yan, Yan,
He's Bielsa's man,
He'll give him when he can.
He's on the way
Says Phil Hay
But will we sign a striker?
That'll be the day.

Re: Ian Poveda
I'm probably more excited by this deal, if we get it done, than signing a striker - although I hope we do sign one. Like you say he is a potential Saiz replacement, a player in the role that presumably Bielsa envisaged Kent playing, or Dan James before that or the role he was training Jack Clarke to play in the summer. It is the type of player we need to be able to run with the ball quickly from one area of the pitch to another to unbalance the opposition and create space for others. If he is capable of creating good chances and also scoring a few it takes the pressure of the striker a bit.SG90 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:46 pm Adam Pope seems to think it's done, so I'll go with that. I've liked him since I saw him for England youth a few years ago, so I won't say I'm unhappy about it. We've needed a Saiz replacement for a year. Hopefully he can come in straight away and not play u23s for a month.
Re: Ian Poveda
So, have we signed him ?
Loan or permanent ?
More importantly is he any good?
He hasn't played for Manchester City..
Still need a striker..

Got my doubts...5'6" isn't very intimidating for any defence.Haighy wrote:So, have we signed him ?

Re: Ian Poveda
Poveda could prove to amazing business. To be in and around the Man City squad means your a good player, will be familiar to tactics and has a point to prove too, he had options to go elsewhere and it’s not as if we swung him with money, so he knows what he’s getting into and should be motivated to prove a point.
He will be a bench player I would imagine but I think he’ll prove a valuable member of the squad.

Another prolonged medical.
I don't know why they bother looking at the state of our squad. Davis is in hospital, Forshaw may not play another game this season, the rest are hobbling around the treatment room

The thing is Bremner, Giles & Collins were hard high class quality players.paddy parrott wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 9:45 pm ....Johnny Giles, Bobby Collins, anyone remember wee Tommy Wright ? now he scored s good few goals in his day.
Giles & Bremner scored 180 goals between them in their Leeds career chipping in with many goals every season.

Different league, different level, in a class of his own surrounded by outstanding team mates. If Poveda turns out a quarter as good as Messi we've stolen him from City .gessa wrote:
Yes, that Messi bloke is pretty crap.

Re: Ian Poveda
Good competition for our attacking options, particularly Costa & Harrison
If Poveda chips in with a few goals & provides some assists it could be the difference of going up or not!
