Leeds v Cardiff Preview

Post by YorkshireSquare »

Leeds United against Cardiff always has an edge to it but not usually because of the football but with continuing questions about his future at the club the result on the pitch is extremely important for Garry Monk tomorrow. The bookmakers are favouring Cardiff City but Leeds will be buoyed having won their first home game of the season and second game of the league campaign against Blackburn on Tuesday. With Cardiff struggling towards the bottom of the table having lost their last three it surely must be a good opportunity to pick up three points on the road.

Liam Bridcutt is expected to play despite injuring his foot on Tuesday and Kemar Roofe will also be available for selection. Last years star man Gaetano Berardi is still not fit enough to return to action having been hampered by injury since pre-season. Eunan O'Kane impressed I his debut in midweek and is likely to feature in the team along with new fans favourite Pontus Jansson. After a resolute defensive performance on Tuesday Jansson impressed fans as much on Twitter after the game as he had with his defensive clearances in injury time.

Cardiff face their own injury issues with Joe Bennett and Stuart O'Keefe out of action. Having been beaten three nil at fellow strugglers Preston in midweek they will be keen to get a result this weekend and history is in their favour. Cardiff have won 66% of their home games against Leeds with the Whites only notching up 2 victories out of 24 games in the Welsh capital. Last season Leeds took 6 points from the two games winning both home and away, let’s hope we can continue that form tomorrow. Garry Monk is keen to follow up on Tuesdays result saying;
We respect Cardiff and their manager, and they have a very good squad, a very experienced squad. We're very new and very together and learning all the time, so we have to go down there and really be focused and concentrate. We're determined to back up our performance from Tuesday and keep pushing forward.
Have your say on the game in our match day thread.
