After all, he has proven himself a great judge of talent throughout his career.
But, i actually dont think he has much say at all and just "adapts" to what the club do.
He has even said that himself in the past, Orta's players, we adapt etc.
Thinking to our 1st season under MB.
Paddy Bamford- He may be MB's go to man now but he definitely wasnt first choice, Vydra and Abel Hernandez were.
Jamal Blackman- not 1 start.
Lewis Baker- Only played 200 minutes of football for us.
Izzy Brown- Nothing needs to be said.
And this carried on this season.
Jack Clarke- The story was that Clarke wasnt coming back but this changed when we decided we couldn't get Ryan Kent. For whatever reason MB seems to have lost trust in Jack, did he really want him back?
Illan Meslier- A loaned backup keeper? Was that really something MB requested.
Eddie Nketiah- Injured now but MB has publicly said that he wasnt convinced of Eddie in terms of a style or tactical fit (although did praise him last time).
Helder Costa- 1st choice target who MB has admitted is hindered by the style we play.
Obviously its not all bad, Jack Harrison was a regular last season (sadly) and this season.
Ben White playing regularly.
But i do wonder just how much MB is listened to?
Its a shame if he isn't or if he is a bit but not enough.
Just seems that we have signed a lot of players who MB either doesnt use, hardly uses or publicly says dont fit the style.
Its weird given the club insist he does have an input.
Does anyone really believe MB wanted Izzy Brown for example?
