Wage deferral for players

Post by 1964white » Tue Mar 24, 2020 10:45 pm

Leeds United are in talks with their first-team players over deferring their wages as the club attempt to offset the financial impact of coronavirus.

The squad at Elland Road are expected to agree to a temporary cap on salaries after talks between senior players and club officials Angus Kinnear and Victor Orta on Tuesday.

Chief executive Kinnear and director of football Orta held a meeting to discuss the possibility of deferring wages following the suspension of the EFL season amid the coronavirus crisis.

According to Phil Hay, they have agreed a deferral to help the club cope with a loss of income.

Also Berardi's contract is up and he could conceivably have a big part to play

Not a shock, right thing to do, credit to the players for doing it but at the same time id expect nothing less.

They can well afford it.

Hopefully see more of the Premier league elite donate wages to help lower league clubs.

Apparently Pep Guardiola has donated €1million to the Coronavirus fund.
