Deadline Day Update

31 Jan 2012 02:10pm, by YorkshireSquare

As much as the Sale, Sale, Sale banner on the Leeds United official site today worries me we so far seem to have held on to the rest of our players on this transfer deadline day. There has also been some movement in the opposite direction with Tottenham Hotspur defender Adam Smith signing on loan for the rest of the season with a possible view to a permanent move.

The 20 year old has not featured for Spurs yet but has 82 appearances to his name from various load spells including time at Bournemouth and MK Dons. The addition of Smith to the squad compliments the loan signings of Andros Townsend (Spurs) and Fabian Delph (Aston Villa) along with the permanant signings of Robbie Rodgers and Danny Pugh. Maik Taylor has also extended his contract to provide cover for Andy Lonergan for the remainder of the season.

Leeds fans will again be left feeling rather underwhelmed following the closure of the transfer window having made no stand out signings and selling Jonny Howson. Ken Bates will undoubtedly tell us though that they have been extremely busy doing good business bringing six new names to the club. A summary of all ins and outs is below.

Ins
Pugh (Perm - 2.5 Years)
Rodgers (Perm - 1.5 Years)
Townsend (Loan - End of season)
Delph (Loan - 1 Month)
Smith (Loan - End of season)
Taylor (End of season)

Outs
Howson (Norwich)
Parker (Carlisle - 1 Month Loan)
Carins (Barrow - 1 Month Loan)
Hatfield (Released)
