Don’t panic, Don’t panic!

Usually this time of year is pretty painful for Leeds United fans. Rumours are a plenty and news of signings is flying around the forums and social media sites only for us to be let down by the usual transfer inactivity and lack of investment. Last year was a particularly hectic off-season as we had all the takeover rumour and speculation. This year felt different though, the new manager was saying all the right things and the board have said absolutely nothing, Bates would have been getting the excuses about agents and players being on holiday out by now.

Everything was quiet but seemed to be going ok. We had signed striker Matt Smith from Oldham and McDermott had advised that more deals were lined up and ready to go. Most importantly though we hadn’t sold Sam Byram yet, which must be taken as a positive given our propensity to sell our best players in recent years. What do you think the odds on us getting promoted this season are? Why not check out the latest betting odds at bwinbetting.com.

After Warnock phoning in his instructions from Cornwall the attitude of the new manager is also a refreshing change. He is making lots of small changes which all add up to a significant culture change at the club. He has intimated that he wants players to live locally and not commute large distances to training, has ensured the first team and academy players mix together more at Thorp Arch and the training pitches now match the exact measurements of the Elland Road pitch. He is keen to state that he is building a football club not just a team, and wants a ‘one club’ mentality. There is even a rumour he has got Ross McCormack to stop drinking. Everything looked good.

That was until last night when the social media sites exploded with rumours of administration and financial dire straits after several people attending a dinner with Brian McDermott at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Leeds advised the manager had made the following comments;

“He was assured he had £3m to spend, picked 7 targets, now, told no money at all. GFH desperate for investment, some statement being made public by the club tomorrow.”

The blogging word has also been getting a bit jittery with recent articles about uncertainty for Leeds United and the deafening transfer silence. There has been no news since McDermott was due to meet with David Haigh and Shaun Harvey to discuss his transfer targets and several signings seem to have passed us by. The silence of the board and the disappearance of the once publicity seeking Salem Patel is worrying some Leeds fans.

I never thought GFH would come in and splash the cash though, it was clear from the beginning that they didn’t have the funds to make major investments and the club was in a less that stable position financially when they took over. The transfer windows doesn’t open until Monday and although clubs can arrange deals prior to then they cannot put pen to paper until then. Until that deadline has passed and our intentions are made clear or until the club has made this supposed public statement I don’t think I will start panicking just yet. If that’s ok?

We all knew it would come to this! There is something fundamentally wrong with the set up behind the scenes! Ask yourself a question why do a host of other clubs attract major investment when we can't? Cardiff, leicester, forest, hull to name but a few, what stopped those investors coming to Leeds...?

We are in a terrible state!!!
No money.
Bates still hanging around almost certainly hoping for club to go in to administration and steal it back.
All of the cronies Bates bought to the club remain and will be reporting to him on a daily basis. Williams,Ware, Pincher and the wonderful Ben Fry of the wretched loss making Yorkshire Radio.
GHF are clueless and have no idea how to run the club, leaving Harvey in charge but with no funds to work with.
Season Tickets sales remain static from last season and the money from the first 7500 tickets sold going to pay the loan for The Great White Elephant.....The East Stand.
As usual we the paying public and stakeholders are left frustrated, angry and treated like the morons Bates believes us to be.
HEARTBREAKING!!!!!!!!

Ask yourself why GFH, a finance house, would buy a business with no assets, debts on the books and running at a loss. Just doesn't make sense. All they have is a brand and a tarnished one at that.

Final point, if I bought Leeds Utd the first persons out the door would be Harvey and Bates, (with Lorimer close behind). yet, one way or another they are all still involved with Leeds Utd. I smell a rat and it's initials are KB..........
You forgot about gwynn williams, and if u had the power you could maybe erase brendan ormsby from the clubs records too

Have you learnt nothing from previous windows! We dont sell our star player until final day of the window then it is too late to sign anyone to replace them and the money disappears into Bates pot!
