Good Morning. It's Monday 29th July, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines...
Leeds held in Sardinia
Leeds caped off their pre season preparations with a 1-1 draw in Sardinia. The Whites opted to go for a 3-3-1-3 formation against Cagliari with White partnering Cooper and Berardi in defence. Bielsa's men started slowly and went behind after a quarter of an hour when Pavoletti slotted past a helpless Casilla. As the game progressed, Leeds started to find their form, but were unable to find an end product. Leeds pressure was rewarded early in the second half when Klich was bundled down in the area and Hernandez levelled from 12 yards. The Whites had more than enough chances to win the game but an end product was always missing. Kalvin Phillips earned himself a straight red card for a reckless challenge towards the end of the game.
Youngsters battle to victory
Whilst the first XI were in Sardinia, a second team managed by Leeds coach Pablo Quirogo travelled down the M62 to Lancashire to play against recently relegated Girona. Hosannah who normally occupies right back was switched to centre back to partner Struijk. McCalmont, Gotts played well together in midfield. Alioski played down the right, allowing Douglas to occupy his more familiar role. Oduor, wearing 11, played as wide on the left.
It was an open game where Leeds often found themselves defending, but managed to battle to victory courtesy of goals from Oduor, Harrison and Alioski. Not even Saiz who came on as a second half substitute could save the Italians. Final score Leeds 3 Girona 2.
Bamford draws a blank in pre season
With the start of the season less than a week away, should Bielsa be concerned that Bamford has drawn a blank in pre season? The 25 year old has not scored since the end of April against Villa. Would you play him on Sunday? With Roofe missing with injury, who would you play up front?
