With Kemar Roofe gone and only three days left before the transfer window it could be a very busy few days for Leeds United and it seems like Victor Orta may be going shopping in Milan, Liverpool and London. As well as a goalkeeper Leeds have been linked strongly with four exciting young players; Facundo Colidio, Ryan Nolan, Ryan Kent and Eddie Nketiah…

Facundo Colidio

Club: Inter Milan | DOB: 04/01/2000 | Position: Striker

Leeds are reportedly ahead of Newcastle in the race to sign Inter Milan and Argentina youth international striker Facundo Colidio. The 19 year old came through the famous Boca Juniors academy, previous graduates include Carlos Tevez, Fernando Gago and Ever Banega. Inter paid £8 million for Colidio when he was just 17 beating off competition from Manchester City and Juventus, he was included in the Guardians 60 best talents in World Football in 2017. Colidio has been with Inter Milan for two years, but is yet to make his debut. He has however appeared 31 times in all competitions for Inter’s Primavera last season, scoring 12 goals and creating six assists. Colidio prefers playing as a striker but can also play wide left or as a number ten. He is maybe not the direct replacement for Roofe the fans desire but he is certainly an exciting prospect and provides the kind of versatility that we know Marcelo Bielsa favours.

Ryan Nolan

Club: Inter Milan | DOB: 17/02/1999| Position: Defender

The second player from Milan is 20 year old defender Ryan Nolan. Nolan hails from Shannon, County Clare and moved to Spain with his family when he was eight. It was in Spain that his talents were spotted by Inter scout Pierluigi Casiragh, who convinced the player to move to Italy on his sixteenth birthday. He has been with Inter since 2015 and his reputation at the San Siro though is incredibly high having captained the Primavera side in all but one of his 36 appearances last season. Nolan has also appeared in friendly games for the first team and was named on the bench for a couple of Europa League games last season. A move to England may enhance Nolan’s international chances, he is yet to feature for Stephen Kenny is Ireland’s U21s side but a move closer to home is sure to seem him called up. Centre back is certainly an area Leeds need strengthening, Nolan is certainly a good prospect but is his lack of first team football a concern given the weakness in this area?

Ryan Kent

Club: Liverpool | DOB: 11/11/1999 | Position: Winger

Ryan Kent is the rumour that won’t go away, only enhanced by Bielsa going to watch him play in a pre-season game for Liverpool, and he seems to be the number one target to replace Kemar Roofe. The 22 year old spent last season on loan at Ibrox, impressing Rangers fans in the process, if only for flooring Scott Brown. In 27 appearances Kent scored 6 goals, largely operating from the left wing. Kent often drifted into centre positions and again gives the kind of adaptability Bielsa loves in a player. Kent’s Rangers loan was his fifth temporary spell away from Anfield and it seems he does not feature in Jürgen Klopp’s pland despite a full pre-season back at Liverpool. With that in mind and Liverpool indicating the preference would be to sell rather than loan out again it could mean Leeds could negotiate a good deal, rumoured to be around £6 million, for a player Bielsa remains very keen on signing.

Eddie Nketiah

Club: Arsenal | DOB: 30/05/1999 | Position: Striker

A new name to emerge is that of 20 year old Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, a potential out and our replacement up front for Roofe instead of Ryan Kent. Raised in Lewisham, Nketiah started his career with Chelsea but was released by Chelsea at under 14 level. He then joined the Arsenal Academy and played for the club at youth levels. Nketiah has made a handful of appearances for the first team, making his debut in a Europa League match against BATE Borisov as an 89th-minute. His next appearance came a month later against Norwich City in the League Cup as an 85th-minute substitute. He scored after 15 seconds with his first touch. He scored his first goal in the Premier League on the last day of the season at Burnley on 12 May 2019. There has been much interest in Nketiah this summer with Arsenal receiving 23 loan bids with a number of Championship clubs, including Leeds, said to be in the race for his signature.
