Macelo Bielsa spoke with the press ahead of this weekends game against Middlesbrough. Here is what he had to say...
Eddie Nketiah
Bielsa says ideally he would like Eddie to stay this season & next at Leeds because he believes it would be best for the player’s development. He says the club holds him in high esteem. Bielsa knows Leeds can’t compete with Premier League clubs but clarified that it’s his view that Nketiah would benefit by staying here
Nketiah trained well today but it will be another week before he is available for the 1st team.
Tyler Roberts
Tyler Roberts is unavailable for the visit of Middlesbrough (who he describes as a developing side). We understand it’s a hamstring issue but Bielsa was less specific saying the injury is still being analysed.
Adam Forshaw
Still no scheduled return.
Bielsa on how it’s emotion & not money which improves players
Bielsa on how it’s emotion & not money which improves players’ performance. He sees League 1 & 2 football as “virginal” & “uncontaminated” where the values exist which makes players improve rather than the Premier League. Says it’s up to the coach to instil these emotions.
Corners
Talked in depth about corners & how using Phillips delivery & the velocity generated on the ball in association with the players timing their runs is key. Admits they haven’t worked out an effective short corner routine yet.
Izzy Brown
Also, says with Izzy Brown performing well at Luton now that he is examining his own methods after the player had an unsuccessful period at Leeds where he was rehabilitating after injury last season.
