Championship starlet latest to be linked to ER move

Good Morning. It's Thursday 15th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

With 24 hours left, Leeds have a shortlist of four.

Media reports are suggesting that Leeds have switched their attention back to Norwich attacking midfielder Emi Buendia. The 23yo Argentine was snapped up by the Canaries two years ago, under the noses of Leeds whilst on loan to Leeds sister club Cultural Leonesa for just 1.3m. Two years on, his price tag has multiplied to over £20m. Buendia was on Leeds radar earlier this Summer, though his price tag always seemed an issue. Perhaps, with only a day left of the transfer window, Norwich will want to do a deal?

Their interest in Buendia, is not to say they have lost interest in team mate Todd Cantwell. The England U21 International certainly put in some impressive performances for Norwich last term, and due to his age, is expected to fulfill his potential. Leeds had a 15m offer for Cantwell turned down on the International transfer deadline day and are reluctant to meet their 20m valuation.

Louie Sibley is certainly a player for the future. The versatile midfielder has recently broken into the Derby first team, and has shown moments of magic, specially from his left peg. Sibley is a raw talent, and still has a lot to learn. If Leeds were to do a deal, it would probably involve Sibley going straight out on loan, perhaps, back to Derby. Ex player, now pundit Darren Bent believes Sibley has a great deal of potential.

You’re buying potential. I watched Louis Sibley a lot last year, I really like him and I think he’s a good player.

At the same time, after he scored the hat-trick against Millwall people started to mark him more and pay him a bit more attention and to be fair he struggled with that little bit more scrutiny on him with opposition teams setting up to stop him.

As far as buying potential, he’s got all the potential to go to the very top. For me, £10million is very, very steep.

Overnight, Leeds have been linked to Reading teenage sensation Michael Olise. Similarly to Sibley, the former Citeh and Chelsea academy player has a lot of raw talent. He can operate in midfielder or either flank. His consistency rate is improving every week.

Who will Leeds go for? Perhaps they will make two signings?

Premier League not at risk of suspending games if UK goes into second lock down

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters does not believe that even if the UK goes into a second lock down, due to the Corona Virus, it should not effect top flight football. We saw all live sporting events including football suspending for three months earlier this year due to the pandemic which has cost the lives of over 42,000 in England alone. According to Masters ‘Project Restart’ has showed football can continue amid talks of a second lockdown.

We’re in constant dialogue with government about all aspects of the co-operation we have with them,” Masters said following Wednesday’s Premier League meeting. We don’t feel the closed doors model is at risk at the moment

We think we’ve got a proven model that worked in Project Restart, and at the moment we’re happy, and so are government, that we can continue. No [plans to shut down], as I said, not that we don’t scenario plan and talk about various different outcomes - you have to in the current environment - there’s no talk about the Premier League or sport being suspended at the moment.

leeds 1-0 man city fa cup 5th round feb 1977

took my non footy mate to the game, was in the kop just about 10 yards from corrigan when he made that wonder save....no idea how he made it was celebrating as soon as it left sniffers head. end to end high quality game settled by a lateish trevor cherry goal.

that night on match of the day they compared it to banks 1970....i swear corrigans was better.

just google corrigan save and you will see it
I was at that one too, still the best save I've ever seen.
Probably the best 'You'll never walk alone' too.
