Radrizzani prepared if Bielsa left next Summer

Good Morning. It's Thursday 5th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road.

Andrea Radrizzani prepared if Bielsa left next Summer.

Leeds Owner Andrea Radrizzani is prepared to lose the services of Marcelo Bielsa next Summer as he believes Leeds can thrive without Bielsa because of the club’s transformation under him.

The Italian businessman also made it abundantly clear that he hoped the Argentine would continue in his role for years to come:-
“I hope he can stay with us for a long time. But we like to decide year by year because, obviously, he’s not a young manager, he’s 65 and his family, his wife is often in Argentina.

“Hopefully, he can stay longer — 60 is the new 40 these days! “If not, I think what he’s building is the foundation for a proper club.

“He has put in the foundations for the future without him. “I say that really convinced of his job, because it’s not only what you can see every game but what he has done in terms of changing the facilities, the work ethic — they really reflect what I wanted to do in the club.”

“It was a discussion in the car with Victor.
“It was a difficult season so I wanted to have a leader, a charismatic coach who could change the culture.

“Victor said ‘I think Marcelo Bielsa would be amazing, but it’s impossible’ . . . when someone says something is impossible I want it more. “So I said ‘Call him now’. And then he didn’t pick up but Victor left him a message.

“By the time he spoke to him the next day, Marcelo had already watched ten games, already knew the players.

"Then we flew to Buenos Aires and we spent ten hours in a room learning from him, while he was already clear in his mind what to do and change.”

Leeds need more attacking options - Whelan

Noel Whelan is suggesting that Summer signing Joe Gelhardt should be promoted to the first-team squad following his performances for the U23's.

The 18yo has been impressive form since his arrival at Elland Road from cash strapped Wigan Athletic and has quickly made an impression behind the scenes for the Whites.

Whelan believes that a striking option is needed on the bench and has named Gelhardt as the ideal man for the job.

“The kid has got talent and if you are good enough, you are old enough. It is as simple as that," he told Football Insider.

“He is excelling for the 23s and we do not have an out-and-out striking option on the bench so I would love to see him being integrated into that squad now. I think he is ready, I really do. There is no point in progressing him in the under-23s any longer quite frankly. He is flying there.

"We do not have another out-and-out striker and he can be another option off the bench. You have got to look at that because we are not blessed with a million and one strikers at the football club. “We need to give Patrick Bamford a little bit of help. Give the young man a chance.”

Are Leeds light on attacking options?

Do they need another striker in January?

I really do not want to think about it ...apart from Wilkinson...Since Revie we have not had a great track record with managers... will be scary times

Its good to have a succession plan, be a sad day when MB goes.

That being said given Phil said he had heard Eddie Howe was one option i am not confident. We got it right with MB lets try and follow that rather than making another mistake like we did going from TC to Hecky.

Howe did well as a big fish in a small pond, he wouldn't suit us. His style of play isnt similar to Bielsa's and imo it has to be.

Poch?
Gabriel Heinze?
Maybe Gerhard Struber? I liked what i saw of his Barnsley.

If and when MB goes we must get it right.
One thing for certain, we should be a decent draw for a manager given the amazing foundations Bielsa has put in place, and the full support Radz, Kinnear, and Orta have placed in Bielsa.
