Leeds target Norwegian ace

Good Morning. It's Friday 18th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Leeds keep tabs on Norwegian ace

Leeds are fighting it out with Newcastle Utd over Norwegian U21 International Fredrik Andre Bjorkan. The 22-year-old left-back came up through the ranks with Bodo Glimt from the Norwegian top division. His defensive displays has been attracting attention all over Europe. Celtic held talks over Bjorkan in the summer, but were unable to secure a deal.

Bodo are set to win the Norwegian title this weekend. They are 19 points clear of nearest rivals Molde. Do Leeds need a recognised left back or are there more concerning area's of the pitch that need strengthening come January?

Who should Leeds top priority be in the January transfer window?

The January transfer window opens in less than a fortnight. As normal, we can expect to be linked to dozens of superstars all over the globe. If Bielsa was given the reigns to sign two players, which players / positions are in need of being filled?

We spent the best part of £100m during the Summer window, so I wouldn't expect them to break the bank unless they can find players who will improve their starting XI. The same question regarding outgoing players. We can expect to see both Shaughnessy and Grot depart in the New Year but are there any players that could be sold to recoup money?

I do like what I've seen of Caprile so I'm not too worried if Meslier gets injured and Casilla gets dropped

I'm not expecting any incomings in January. Not sure that we have any cash available, unless Radz allows the 49'ers some more of his shares. Angus has already stated that the only transfer dealing to be done will be a foreign player who will be out of contract in the summer. So we will agree to pick him up when his contract ends, and he will be inegrated for next season.

We are not a rich club, with a big cheque book.
If we are looking reasonable safe by January, we may have to settle for the squad we have at the moment. Fixtures in Jan/Feb aren't too bad on the whole.
Kiko is an acceptable back up for Meslier.

Now that we’ve lost Koch for the best part of the season and Llorente seems injury prone (hope it doesn’t continue like this - a couple of games on then a couple off due to injury) I think another centre back wouldn’t come amiss. Although Bielsa prefers ball playing centre backs even if they are less than 6ft tall, I think a big unit/set piece specialist would be useful (as 64 says at both ends of the pitch) as there is no doubt that teams, from here on in, will be targeting our perceived weakness in this area, and it is impossible to go a whole 90 minutes without conceding corners or free kicks in and around our box.

It would be good to be able to replace Casilla but unfortunately he’s on such a massive weekly wage that that is not going to be possible, I think we’ll just have to hope that Meslier stays fit!

If we’re seriously looking at the Norwegian kid then I wonder if they think Davis is not good enough as back up to Dallas/Alioski, he’s always done ok when ever I’ve seen him!
