Rolls Royce Dallas set for new contract at Elland Road

Paul Madeley was Don Revie's Rolls Royce, the original ‘Super Sub’ and the most versatile player ever to wear the Leeds shirt and arguably in the whole history of the Football League. But Marcelo Bielsa has his own Rolls Royce in the form of Stuart Dallas.

Dallas was perhaps somewhat of a bit part player in Bielsa’s first season in West Yorkshire but he emerged as one of our most important players and consistent performers during the play-off debacle against Derby County back in May 2019. Not many players could hold their heads up high after that game, but Dallas was certainly one who could with a never say die performance and two goals to his name. That performance came from the left back position but his form continued from that moment with ‘Mr Versatile’ playing nearly every position on the pitch over the past two seasons.

Taking to the Premier League like a duck to water, filling in at left back, right back, attacking midfield, defensive midfield, you name it the Northern Irishman has played there for both club and country. Four positions for Northern Ireland in one game alone last season. With crucial goals this season, including two against champions elect Manchester city, Dallas is joint second in Leeds United’s top scorers list this season. Signed for only £1.7 million from Brentford back in 2015 he is now invaluable to Leeds United, the cost of replacing him with a player of his ability in every position he covers is unimaginable and he now looks set to be rewarded for his performances with a new contact.

The Belfast Telegraph have reported that Dallas is on course for a new contract and significant pay rise. Dallas has reportedly been earning around £20,000 a week since 2019 but he can expect his wages to at least double ahead of next season. It's understood a major new contract will soon be on the table for a player who has appeared in all 33 league matches this season, scoring seven goals and assisting two more. Dallas' existing contract expires in June 2023 and he is loving life at Elland Road under manager Marcelo Bielsa who has transformed him into an even better player.

It would certainly be deserved for a player who is many peoples choice for player of the season!

He has matured into a most effective multi-positional player.
As my Irish friend tells me, "I love the bones of him".

Yep, a doubling of his wages and a couple of years extra on his deal, sounds like a good plan to me.

Player of the season for me.

Although Phillips & Raphinha are up there too!

Definitely my player of the season, Mr Consistent
