Good Morning. It's Tuesday 6th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...
Leeds to raid French market again for Maxwel Cornet?
French outfit Lyon have turned down a £10million bid from Leeds for versatile 24 year old Maxwel Cornet. The Ivorian Coast International currently occupies the left back slot at the Groupama Stadium, though in reality Cornet has the flexibility not only to play left back, but on either wing or up front. In six years, he has made 183 appearances, netting 23 times.
He is a strong tackler, a beautiful passer of the ball and is great in the air. Leeds have been tracking Cornet for some time, even when Lyon has a £20 million price tag slapped on him. Should Leeds go up to £12m (€15m). Many believe that Cornet could be a direct replacement for Costa! Costa or Maxwell?
Will Cooper game time be limited next season?
With Liam Cooper dropping down the pecking order in the latter parts of last season, do we expect the 29 year old to recapture his starting place, and captaincy during the 2021-22 season! Will the arrival of Koch and Llorente, and emergence of Struijk limit his playing time this coming term?
Cooper joined the Whites seven years ago, after impressing during a friendly for Chesterfield. is tenure at Elland Road were littered with inconsistencies until the arrival of Bielsa, when the Scot really begun to flourish. How long can he keep it going at the top level? Is it time we parted ways with Cooper. If Cooper stays, but plays a smaller part, do we need a new Captain?
Alioski departs with mixed emotions
Like him or loathe him, but you couldn't ignore him - Ezgjan Alioski has left Elland Road. Over his four year stay, the mischievous Macedonian clocked up 161 appearances, finding the net 21 times. To give him hid due, he would play anywhere on the pitch given the opportunity, and never whinged once, even if kept out of the starting line up or bought on as a second half substitute.
Many were aware of his playful antics on and off the field, but the 29 year old also had a big heart, with many using him as a shoulder to cry on. One thing we can all agree on, he may not have been blessed with silky smooth skills, but his never ending running, and effort made up for it in many ways. Alioski has been linked to a host of Turkish clubs including Galatasaray and Besiktas, but may also link up with former striker Caleb Ekuban at Trabzonspor.
