Arsenal v Leeds Match Thread - Four changes as Phillips returns and Drameh makes debut

EFL Cup 4th Round
Tuesday 26th October 7:45pm | Emirates Stadium

A midweek trip to North London stands between Leeds and a place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup, but only if they can overcome Arsenal. With a must win league trip at Carrow Road next Saturday, Marcelo Bielsa may have chosen to reward Gelhardt and Summerville for their cameo roles at the weekend with rare starts but instead they make the bench. Cody Dramah is handed his Leeds debut though and the others are sure to play some part of the 4th round clash.

There is still no sign of Junior Firpo but Kalvin Phillips is fit to play. Raphinha took a knock midway through the second half of the Wolves clash and though has reassured Leeds fans he's fine Tyler Robert’s will replace him at No 10. Adam Foreshaw comes in to replace Mateusz Klich whilst Pascal Struijk drops back into defence in place of Liam Cooper.

The hosts have dragged themselves into the top half of the table after a poor start to their campaign, and are unbeaten in the last six games. In the previous rounds of the competition, Mikel Arteta's team put six past West Brom, and three past Wimbledon, both without reply. They have a Senior squad of 26, without having to dip into their Under 23 squad.

Arsenal are likely to still be without Kieran Tierney. The Scotland full-back missed Friday's win over Aston Villa with a bruised ankle and is set to sit out the cup tie as manager Mikel Arteta is expected to make several changes. Granit Xhaka is a long-term absentee with a knee injury.

All we need are glimpses that things will come good and we’ll be ok. In the first half we saw that but in the second that was somewhat undone.

Bielsa’s pre-planned subs were frustrating but I understand not risking Llorente and Foreshaw too much. Bigger game to come on the weekend.

I just don't understand the need to press every panic button and catastrophise, it's like we're talking ourselves into doom and gloom where we've a crap manager and a crap squad (and James is currently held up as evidence) and if we don't win the next game the season is over. In October!
I wouldn't say the "season is over " but it would be very tough, and embarrassing if we don't win at Norwich, a team everyone seems to have already written off, look at their dreadful stats, follow that up with the run coming in December, and all dosen't appear rosy at ER, hence why, a lot of supporters are a little concerned.
We all love Leeds United, most I'd say, with a passion, hence why a few are getting a little concerned, not many I know want Bielsa to go, but , most I know are saying he needs to alter slightly, last night he again blamed himself, he's always blaming himself but dosen't seem to correct what his mistakes are.
A lot don't like X Y Z players ,although a lot do like X Y Z players, thats what debate is all about, we only pour our hearts out because we care, so do the team and staff, but it's a results business, and we ain't producing at the moment, MB decides if he sticks with the same players they will eventually come good and produce, thats not always the case, a lot of times you have to bit the bullet and make changes, will he do that ?
Either way, it will be his / our downfall if they don't produce.
In the meantime, carry on.

I thought we were comfortable at half time and slightly the better team. Then, like it did last time we played at the Emirates in this cup, it was all down hill from there. Coops coming on and making that error killed the game and we looked like we wanted out. I didn't think Arsenal were great either. The whole thing second half felt lackluster which is a shame considering the players would have been 2 matches from a day out in front of the fans at Wembley.

The joys of survival it is then.
