Summerville joins Chelsea's wish list

Good Morning. It's Friday 1st March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Summerville joins Chelsea's wish list

Crysencio Summerville has been added to Mauricio Pochettino’s wish list following Chelsea's last gasp victory of the Whites in the FA Cup, earlier this week. Scouts for the South West London outfit have been tracking Summerville for a while, but are now upping their interest in the 22 year old following similar scouting efforts from Liverpool (who are also believed to be targeting Archie Gray), and Aston Villa.

Summerville has come alive this season since switching flanks. As an inverted winger / third striker, he is far more dangerous in attack, which has seen him notch up 15 goals, and 8 assists. According to 'Whoscored', Summerville is the best player in the Championship with a rating of 7.80. He is ahead of Jack Clarke (7.63), Rutter (7.53), Dewsbury Hall (7.51) and Abdul Fatawu (7.32).

Cawley recovering in hospital after fall

The Leeds fan recovering in hospital after falling from the Upper tier of the away end has been named as no other than Aaron Cawley. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he received a four month prison sentence, and a six year football ground banning order back in 2012 after running onto the pitch, and attacking then Sheffield Wednesday keeper Chris Kirkland.

Interestingly, he appealed against the banning order, and in 2016, his ban was lifted, but still remains barred from Leeds Utd games, so maybe should not have been in attendance in the first place. The 33 year old was celebrating Mateo Joseph's opening 8th minutes goal on Wednesday evening, when he fell backwards onto empty seating below. What empty seating was doing at the away end when Leeds were in town, may always remain a mystery!

Jack Clarke linked with Elland Road return

Jack Clarke could make a sensational return to Elland Road this Summer according to a report from Leeds-Live. The former Thorp Arch academy player made the switch to Spurs nearly four years ago for a fee of £10m. Unfortunately for the then 19 year old, he lost his way, and found himself surplus to requirements. In the Summer of 2022 he signed for recently promoted Sunderland for £800k, (having assisted them out of league One) and has not looked back since. He has terrorised defenses this season, contributing 15 goals and four assists to the Black Cats cause.

I’d have Jack Clarke back in the summer. I’d keep Jimmy too like.

I'm eagerly waiting for the 49ers Leeds jersey

Definitely good numbers. Shows that we're easily one of the biggest clubs in Britain.

One point to make clear on Summerville.

1. He's unlikely to go to a top 6 club and sit on the bench
2. It's usually the middle clubs like Villa, WHam, Palace that take the chance on unproven championship players - not the top 6

So there's a comparable scenario I alluded to elsewhere, where Norwich got promoted and sold Buendia to Villa. But we've got more holding power than Norwich. Norwich were a yoyo club. We're convincing our players that we're aiming higher. I don't see either option 1 or 2 being the kind of move that Summerville would make.
