Re: Is history repeating itself. ? How very similar to yesteryear.

Ooh - I had to look that one up .... and now I wish I hadn't. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the game against Barnsley in April 1990, when we were top of the league with three games to play, and we got beat 2-1, meaning we had to win our last two games to go up (which we did). Apophenia ??...

Blimey Rab, apophenia! Now there’s a word I must remember next time I’m having an in depth philosophical discussion down at the local.

Down the pub you could also say that because of our current league position you have been suffering from priapism

Yes my username suggests history will repeat itself I was there to witness the start of our fortunes under the astute Don Revie in 1964 56 years later my dreams are about to come true once again :-D Do you feel it in your waters, or is there a more substantial reason for your optimism, if so please...

Would love Preston to get a point at Brentford too. From your lips to God's ears :) :roflmao:  50% of their last 6 games have ended in draws, 1-1, 1-1. 0-0 with 2 losses and 1 win. and their record away from home is better than their home record. Manager is Alex Neil a canny Scotsman who took ...

Re: Is history repeating itself. ? How very similar to yesteryear.

It comes as no surprise to me that superstitions, signs and omens. sprinkled with a good old smattering on numerology is used to convince ourselves that success will be ours. One hundred games managed for Bielsa in a centenary year. I don't see this as being relevant, but it is another straw to gras...

Not ideal but White's more than capable. Nothing's stopping us now. Ben has done that job in the past and Berra can step into White's place. As Mr Lennon said "A Spaniard in the works" and we will be OK. :-D :roflmao:  https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRsgcuQh4wHGpUfe5X8k70...

Re: Marcelo Bielsa, The kind of man people name stadiums after!

Never won any trophies? The 11 players on the pitch are his trophies. The new heart in the city of Leeds is his trophy. Honour is the gift a man gives to himself. No man gives it to him and no man can take it away. Bielsa has untold trophies related to the human spirit where moth and rust do not cor...

Re: Swansea City v Leeds Utd - MATCH THREAD

We cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war. It is not good in these end games to dish out a thrashing like we gave Stoke. Brentford Fulham and WBA as soon at the 4th goal goes in are already preparing themselves for the next game, but if a game goes on to the 89th minute, and Leeds might be facing a...

Re: Swansea City v Leeds Utd - MATCH THREAD

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disg...

its because if you don't play "the England way" the press smell blood after each loss.

Much happier supporting our wee country, anything we get is unexpected and therefore, brilliant!
Is it because we is English that we always get beat in a penalty shoot out?

Re: Swansea City v Leeds Utd - MATCH THREAD

So we beat Rovers 3-1 and with a little bit of luck Rovers could have beaten WBA 3-1 But it ended as a 1-1 draw. With WBA still to play Fulham I think they are going to fade and falter and Brentford may snap up second place... a sort of consolation prize because Leeds with their present form will st...

Re: Positives/Negatives v Stoke (1 of each only please)

The Stoke manager summed it up perfectly when he said that the only positive
he could take from the game was that he hoped he would never play a team
like Leeds ever again.

Bielsa: El Loco & Leeds Was screened tonight on Sky. Anyone see it? Nothing really new for us, but it did remind me just how far we have come as a club under him. Nice comments from the guy who paints the murals around Leeds and from Potch and Pep about how they feel Bielsa improves not just player...
