I struggle with Le Carre, I'm not intelligent enough to read him...

Re: Authors of Fiction

Le Carre has elevated his art form. Far more than just a thriller writer; he has absolutely captured the zeitgeist of the cold war. His work will live far beyond our time. Don't get much time to read fiction as my job requires that I read a lot of academic papers, but I recently discovered an Englis...

Re: Guess the Brewery and/or Beer

Have to say that when I was in England I quickly came to the conclusion that, not only is the beer/ale much better than in the US, it's served at the proper temperature. Re: What are you doing today ?

My classes have all moved on line, so I got my lectures recorded and posted and am now sitting around waiting for the students to upload their assignments to the course web sites.

I think. perhaps, I shall bake a pie.

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 25th March) - Leeds held talks with Ibrahimovic prior to January transfer wind

When your budgets and investments are predicated on an income of X number of pounds per month, being asked to take 0.3 * X is a serious imposition, regardless of how large X is. I applaud the players being willing to take the pay cut. It's damned generous of them. I would be less sympathetic if the ...

Re: Coronavirus.......LOCKDOWN IMMINENT!

Agreed, which is why I'm suspicious about who benefits from the majority of the workforce being reduced to incapacity We know exactly how that will work here in the US. Once again, the government will move forcefully to ensure another massive transfer of wealth from the middle to the top. A few cru...

Good article that basically shows how screwed we are as no country has an exit strategy for coming out of the isolation periods https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51963486 Slowing it down is not much use as at some point normal live has to resume and people will then be just as susceptible to catchi...

Great year for albums. The Who released "A Quick One" and Otis Redding released "Dictionary of Soul."

"Pet Sounds," "Revolver," "Freak Out," and "Blonde On Blonde" are all amazing.

I'm going to nominate "Face to Face" by the Kinks.
