Re: Why is the club allowing so many players to play for their countries this week?
My point was England players often pull out of internationals Our players should pull a few sickies, LUFC pay their salaries. As a fan or if I was a footballer, my loyalties would be with my respective club, especially in friendlies & Mickey Mouse competitions. There is a massive difference between ...

Re: Overall Player Ratings
:!: Agree with all that. Meslier 1 on 1 stops are the strongest part of his game. Do you feel he deserves 7 or more on his seasonal rating? As I say, always difficult to judge our keeper in some games when he has precious little to do. Scoring is very subjective. I try to pay little heed to it ...

Re: Overall Player Ratings
Not his fault, It's difficult to give Meslier 7/10 when he has nothing to do, especially when his teammates have contributed much more to earn the same rating. Meslier distribution is nothing like the first time I saw him at the Emirates many moons ago, he never feels me with confidence when the ...

Re: Overall Player Ratings
On player ratings I'd say everyone has done reasonably well so don't really get why players like Meslier & Bamford are heavily marked down by some ? Maybe they are just the usual suspects when it come to apportioning blame. Firpo used to get the same and I still read posters stating that he can't ...

Re: can you believe this report
I'm absolutely not. But Maguire is, just think if it was normal for a club to leave out tens of millions of pounds they are still owed he'd have mentioned it. Even just in passing, but he never has and has stated the opposite, that we are owed basically nothing. Think if anything Barcelona owe a ...

Re: can you believe this report
I don't doubt what you say. I'm sure you are far more knowledgeable about this than I. But the mention of money owed on Raphinha was raised in Spain last year, Phil Hay said the club dismissed it. Kieran Maguire has done a deep dive on our accounts and that's his area of expertise. If was a reason ...

Re: can you believe this report
Another few points in relation to transfer fees received. The suggested transfer fee does not in its entirety go on the spreadsheet. You can discount anywhere between 10-30% of the selling fee based on the following. Contractual clauses amounting to loyalty bonuses, % of sell on fee to the player ...

Re: Overall Player Ratings
Joe is steadily coming good again, 2 x 9/10s vs Cardiff & Sunderland in his last 4 appearmces. His only stinker was against Boro' in the cup, where he was part culpable for all three goals. I scored him very low for that match, had I gave him a 5 or a 6, he would be above the 6.9 mark I've given ...

Re: can you believe this report
As cjay says, it's bollocks! We made £73m in player sale profits for the 2022-2023 year. The account also shw we oweed £190m in transfer fees, whilst only being owed £2m. The accounts are not that detailed. I noticed this when I looked at them. The money owed on transfer fees will be included. The f ...

Re: Illan Meslier
Imo he make me nervous with his kicking to be honest and I think that is his big problem but as most have said other than the 96min thing he had a decent game but I don't think it will be his last time in our colours.I did say at the start of the season I would prefer a different goalie I will be ...

He won’t get away with losing the ball in dangerous areas in the premiership trying his trademark turn.

It is indefensible. Just a howler for his copy book. You will find nearly all keepers have one.andrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 12:15 am I can defend his performance. Made a terrific save before his defence let him down for the first goal.
But the second? Probably what you meant? Yeah I'm not defending that at all.

Re: Sunderland v Leeds Utd Match Thread
18 points from 9 games is normal top 2 form. 16 points from 9 is playoff form. We are 3 points better off than a season apparently with such a difficult start we had to pretend the first 2 months didn't exist. It was a massive error but it's overall impact is all the more sobering. We could be ...

It wasn’t that bad - he took so long to take the sting out of Sunderland.Carrick Dave wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 9:56 pm Some suggestion that the knee to the head a few minutes earlier might have affected his perception in some way.
Just a loss of concentration, coupled with a laissez - faire approach to gathering the ball.

Re: Sunderland v Leeds United - Man Of The Match
Asking for a friend. Aaronson... what did he do to make your list Joe? I thought he was ok - some loose balls in good situations. Not his best game - and he had a chance to bury them if he had shown better awareness and composure. He would be on the fringes of my 6 / but not given the placing any ...
