Re: Album of 1993 (Part II) - VOTE NOW

Surprised Depeche Mode didn't get a shout? It was a toss up between that and Weller for me :duno: I love DM but just never got into that album. In fact, after the Black Celebration, Music for the Masses and Violator era, when they really established a distinct sound, I always felt SoFaD was DM tryi...

Re: What Songs Take You Back To A Particular Time/Place/Event ?

A lot of songs take me back to 1989-1992. It was the time when I came of age, first kiss, first girlfriend, first drinks, first hangover, and moved from teen discos to pubbing and clubbing. And in the last year of that phase, started going out with the now Mrs. Mountain - after many years of lusting...

Kate Bush 'The Red Shoes'
Radiohead 'Pablo Honey'

For a B list, there are some big names and albums still in there, Kate Bush, Nirvana, Radiohead, U2, Bjork, Paul Weller...

Re: Album of 1993 (Part II) - NOMINATE NOW

I hated hip hop and rave stuff, I just thought it was vacuous shite. . Rave was vacuous, it was the point. It was fun, an escape, for a few hours everyone loved everyone and thought everything was great. I'm not as big a fan of hip hop, tbh I really just liked certain acts like Public Enemy, A Trib...

Re: Album of 1993 (Part II) - NOMINATE NOW

I guess a lot depends on age. I was 15/16 in 1989/90. And heard 808 State's Pacific. And that was it, I pretty much stopped listening to U2, INXS, Simple Minds, the Smiths etc etc. And house and techno and the whole rave thing was so exciting and happened at exactly the right time. But by the end of...

Re: Victor Orta Interview

Very soft interview, more self publicity than news. The obvious story, which the journalist completely missed, is the complete change in thinking at Leeds, from aiming for the top 6 to aiming for not being relegated. A good journalist would have put to him that it sounds like they don't have the fai...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thursday 22nd September) - Cooper: I don't ever want to be in that situation ever again

Footballers in the Premier league really need help with the media. All the time. Every time they open their mouths. Someone should sit down with Cooper and say "look, it's fine to talk about the stress your family is going through, but you're on £40,000 a week. And while money doesn't cure stre...

Wu-Tang Clan 'Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' Oh that will get a lot of points from me. I'll go for another classic ... A Tribe Called Quest - "Midnight Marauders". I could listen to Electric Relaxation on repeat every night. It's just perfect mellow jazz hip hop... https://youtu.be/WHRn...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 21st September) Chelsea target Orta for new Sporting Director Role

He had a say in the player signing in the first place. If Bielsa doesn't agree to the player coming then we don't get to the point of discussing financial. Bielsa isn't responsible for the actual financial aspect, but he is responsible for agreeing to sign JKA in the first place. Yes. There is the ...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 21st September) Chelsea target Orta for new Sporting Director Role

Of course Bielsa isn't responsible for the fees and whatnot we agreed to pay for JKA. He isn't responsible for the wording of contracts and all that stuff, that is on Kinnear and Orta I'd imagine and Radz for signing off over all. Precisely, I agree. To pin responsibility on him for the disaster in...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 21st September) Chelsea target Orta for new Sporting Director Role

This has been done to death but Bielsa agreed on all the signings. But...hold on...surely fans realise that the Court case and the entire litigation is not about whether JKA was a good or bad player? The Court case is over the terms of the contract. It's very much a legal battle over interpretation...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 21st September) Chelsea target Orta for new Sporting Director Role

Bielsa made the final decision on JKA Did he? Did he negotiate the terms and sign the cheque? I'm surprised a manager would have agreed the "must buy" provision. It seems like utter insanity for a club to even expect him to do the paperwork which is now being picked apart by highly paid l...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 21st September) Chelsea target Orta for new Sporting Director Role

I'm not a big fan of Orta, but on the other hand I wouldn't pin all failures on him. He has helped oversee the rise of the club back to the top tier. The disaster was JKA. It's probably human nature to find someone to blame when things don't go as well as hoped for. I think it's more of a systemic i...

While Elland Road may be getting a little bit dated, Thorp Arch, post Bielsa, must be up there with the best. They spent millions on it during his tenure to meet his requirements, relaying the main training pitch to match the pitch at ER etc.

Re: 49ers Enterprises has increased its stake in LUFC.

I think Neville was trying to make a point about 'foreign' owners coming over here and trying to change the game as we know and love it (rather than making a point about distasteful owners).....bringing their big ideas when actually we're fine as we are. The collapse of the so called Superleague sh...

Re: Will Phillips make the England squad?

McGuire over White tells you a lot about the selection policy. The former gets in on the back of 6 months of poor form while the latter has been tearing up for the Arse... 6 months of poor form is still better than Phillips, who has really had no form at all since early on last summer. Obviously mu...

Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 14th September) - Have Leeds missed the boat for Cody Gakpo?

Possibly missed a good signing, or he could be here with 0 goals and we'd say he was a huge waste of money and Phil Hay would be saying we missed out on Wilfried Gnonto. The stadium is clearly becoming more of an issue alright. I doubt expansion will really make us challenge for Europe though. The w...
