Locky reckons that what we need in January is a big physical 10 to replace Rutter.

Promoted Championship teamsCarrick Dave wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:54 pm I think AJS hit the nail on the head on another thread, if Farke does nothing at all we're on target for 89 points and 2 points per game, more or less. So why would he change a winning formula he trusts?
Fans mightn't be too keen on the way through but if the end justifies the means...
A couple of good signings in January wouldn't go amiss though.
23/24. 97 and 96 pts
22/23. 101 and 91 pts
21/22. 90 and 88 pts
20/21. 97 and 91 pts
19/20. 93 and 83 pts
18/19. 94 and 89 pts
17/18. 99 and 90 pts
16/17. 94 and 93 pts

He didn't say that
He said it would be a quiet January but they would look at players that become available

That's interesting. 89 points would only be good enough in 3 out of 8. Even the 2 ppg criteria (92) is only good for 6 out of 8.Ellandback1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 7:56 pm Promoted Championship teams

I dont often get to say this Sean, but I agree with youSean_Nile wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 10:33 am I wrote a long piece in the thread "viewtopic.php?t=47238" which pondered if the past predicts the future, as many pundits on here seem to suggest... and I argued against drawing conclusions from past results, however well constructed and logical they seem.
Many people on here have a fascination with horse racing and they study form as in indicator of the probability of success of a horse winning a race. They factor in trainer and jockey, the condition of the ground, the competition, the age of the horse, the weight on its back, even if the horse performs badly on a left handed course.
Weighing all those things up they back the horse that looks most favourable, and they look to tipsters to confirm their selection.
Why is it that with all the analysis that goes in to picking a winner, the horse we select does not win.
All this to say the past does not predict the future.
I had a treble of Chelsea, Man Utd, and Spurs who had just beaten Man City... they are certain to thrash Fulham, but all they could manage was a draw, the other two teams won. I lost... what a surprise... but results often turn out to be unexpected in my experience.
Horses and Managers are equally unpredictable... it seems that rarely can you back a sure thing.
As Abe Lincoln said "The most reliable way to predict the future is to create it."
A few days ago we were all full of the joys of the world. One poor performance and the sky is falling.
I never cease to be amazed by the 'woe is us" people just waiting to pounce when we don't dominate every game.
It really is quite astonishing how when we win, it's all the players. When we lose - sack the manager.
Sacking the manager right now would be a shockingly awful business decision

Mentioned him on another thread but Conor Chaplin walks into this team.Ellandback1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 6:12 pm Ipswich and Southampton have quite a lot of talent which aren't getting a game, that could go out on loan:-
Ben Brereton - Southampton
Ross Stewart - Southampton
Maxwel Cornet at Southampton, on loan from West Ham
Conor Chaplin - Ipswich
Gorge Hirst - Ipswich
Look at those lovely positive first time passes and switches of play

"current points average " doesn't that need a level of consistency over the season to get you promoted ? I just know we'll start to drop off again as the season draws to a close leaving us with the dreaded playoffs .I was hoping for a points buffer at this stage before the bad run comes in March.

Then you can prem any of the usual; caught offside, get injured, mis-control the ball and give away free kicks, all when time is precious.mentalcase wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 6:20 pm Don't think any of them are as good as Joseph, maybe Brereton could do a similar job, he lnows how to score in this division as well.
I was dumbfounded when the fraud came on before Joseph and still cannot fathom out the reason.
