What amazes me is he never seems to get caught out of position.

With Ayling on the other side countless times he has been criticised for getting caught out.

Ali roams even more yet always seems to be where he needs to be on the turnover.

I've been a critic of Alioffside in the past, I won't lie, but how delightful it is to be proven wrong sometimes.

It didn't help we played him in the wrong position for 18 months. He always played as a LWB in Switzerland and for Macedonia.

He impressed to begin with at the start of the season and it was clear we'd picked up a good, proven player. Howveer, the rest of the team have grown immeasurably since then and he doesn't seem to have grown with them. I hope the next opportunity he gets to start he'll use that as motivation and raise his game, but I'm perfectly happy with Ali as it stands.

Still, nice to have some concrete, quality cover in that position!

Thats about right, started well, didnt grow with the team.

I do wonder looking at his career, was he really good all round for Wolves or did the quality of his teammates protect him?
