Re: Luke Ayling
I’ll hands up, I didn’t think he would kick on the in the PL, I thought his style of attack minded defence would be exposed in this league and he would get slaughtered by out and out wingers. What a numpty I’ve turned out to be with that opinion - I love the guy and think he’s one of the most important players in the squad since he’s developed a steely defensive game. Yes, occasionally he gets lost in defence and sometimes we get punished and I whinge but overall he’s a complete bonus.
Wish he could get that wonderstrike goal he deserves

Re: Luke Ayling
I , too, was unsure if Luke would make the step up but, from game one when he nutmegged Mane, I've been proven wrong. Yes, he makes the odd mistake and does get caught out of position, but I think that is partly due to the system and how Bielsa wants him to play. Loves to get forward, great engine and plays the game with a smile on his face. Makes a pretty decent captain, too

Re: Luke Ayling
Did he really cost just £200k ? I think for a while he really went off the boil , probably around Monk/Christensen/Necking bottom era but like a few others Bielsa has taken them up not just one but two levels .....from average championship to good championship and now good premier League . Ayling was one of a few I wondered if they could step up to this level . 200k these days though , it's remarkable .
Re: Luke Ayling
I think Kyle Walker cost 200k.
Oh sorry, that's per week...

Probably will remain one of the goals of the season.
Luke doesn't score many goals but his last two are beauties

Re: Luke Ayling
Luke Ayling rumours flying around that he is out for the season.
Wouldn't be surprised as it looked a serious injury at Newcastle.

Re: Luke Ayling
Some will be happy if he doesn't play again all season. (and not for one minute am I suggesting that anyone would wish this injury upon him ) I for one think we miss Bill when he doesn't play
Re: Luke Ayling
Me too Swannie.
Luke has been a superb competitor for Leeds, arguably scored the goal of the season so far!

Re: Luke Ayling - Rumour has it!
Good player but replaceable, Shackleton or I'd like to see Drameh promoted.

Re: Luke Ayling
He was playing on Saturday until quite late. Cresswell only found out he was playing 5 minutes before the warmup. Doesn't sound season ending to me ??

Re: Luke Ayling - Rumour has it!
Well, let's hope it's not a serious injury for Bill.
This again calls into question MB's judgement for me.
We're playing against a team that's in top form and a striker that's in top form and hungry for goals after an enforced absence. But he still prefers to shuffle an jnjured Ayling out of his specialist position and into CB. Ayling, like a number of senior players (Dallas, Harrison, Bamford, Klich, Rodrigo, Firpo, Cooper) have struggled for form and confidence so far this season.
This myth of MB giving youth a chance is exposed again, Cresswell started because there was no other senior player to shuffle there, as was the case with Struijk and Meslier.
And yet when these players have been given a chance, Struijk, Meslier, Cresswell, Shackleton and Summerville, they've shown that they have the talent and confidence to succeed at the top level. That substitution of Roberts for Raphinha against West Ham was unbelievable, the same thing just failed against a very poor Newcastle side
Why not get Summerville on? Also, Rodrigo, who is trying hard and inproving, looke leggy around 60 minutes every match (as does Klich) with Paddy injured then why would you not throw Gelhardt, I'd even give Bate some minutes in place of Klich, or Dallas, rather than wait until the injury crisis forces change.
We played much better in that first half against a good West Ham team, but second half was a different story and the creativity evaporates when Raphinha ain't on the park. Watford, and probably the three matches after it, are must win matches and no more excuses for poor performances.

Absolutely spot on WR, it all needs freshening up, the senior players have done us proud for a few years and now is the time for the kids to step up and show us what they're made of before it's too late.
