Oh this is a good album - Goon - Heaven is Humming. I think that Gessa and Nick will like this one..maybe 64, possibly the missing Durly...

Definite Pixies influence and certainly lo-fi..but there's something else I like too, another influence I can't quite put my finger on

I remember Starcrawler from last year, a bit wierd then and that's not changed but they're maturing well and a new album out soon

This is rather good

Liked all those clips Faaip, you're certainly having a stellar year.

With regard to The National, it needs 3/4 plays. Well it did for me.

The Starcrawlers lead singers (Arrow de Wilde) dad is/has been the drummer with the likes of Father John Misty, Cass McCoombs, Elliot Smith and Beechwood Sparks, the latter I used to quite like back in the day. Alt Country band from California..Laurel Canyon sound again you see ..gets everywhere

Think I'm headed to 30 albums in contention by the end of the year

Hold Steady are back with their first in 5 years . Thrashing thru the Passion

We can certainly include that one as a top 20 contender

A big thumbs up on all of them, faaip, especially the Starcrawler track (though the singer seriously needs a few steak dinners). Listening Igor now.

picked up on Starcrawler last year when they released I love LA single, which I thought had potential but a little immature.

Played the new Sleater Kinney a few times this morning, bit of a mixed bag, not sure what I think yet.
There are a couple of crackers though.

1 - Nilufer Yanya - Miss Universe
2 - Billy Eilish - When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go
3 - Dope Lemon - Smooth Big Cat
4 - Goon - Heaven is Humming - Pixies infused lo-fi is the latest new entry for me
5 - Banks - III
6 - Big Thief - U.F.O.F
7 - Rina Mushonga - In a Galaxy
8 - Better Oblivion Community Centre - Better Oblivion Community Centre
9 - Aldous Harding - Designer
10 - Starcrawler - Devour you
11 - Kevin Moreby - Oh My God
12 - Girlspool - What Chaos is Imaginary
13 - Nina Nesbit - The Sun Will Come Up The Seasons Will Change
14 - Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
15 - Cal Scruby - Unsigned
16 - Karen O & Danger Mouse - LUX PRIMA
17 - The Cinematic Orchestra - I Believe
18 - Solange - When I get Home
19 - Pixies - Beneath The Eyrie
20 - Tool - Fear Inoculum
21 - The Hold Steady -
22 - Rhapsody - EVE
23 - Lizzo - Cuz I Love You
24 - Tyler the Creator - IGOR
25 - The Comet is Coming - Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery
26 - Jenny Lewis - On the Line

Albums I first heard in 19 - Sevdaliza - ISON and The Manchester Orchestra - A Black Mile To The Surface, Kevin Moreby - Harlem River

New entries include a very listenable album from Banks (III) a lot of soul here without it being a soul album. Lovely. A hip hop album from Rapsody who channels her inner Guru here (Watching the Mercury Prize Dave winner this week it seems Guru was 20 yrs ahead of his time and a massive influence on these two albums) And a new album from the god like Pixies, without Kim these days but Paz more than makes up for that. Feels a little forced at times for me but has to be top 30 this year and will probably grow with more listens

Still to really listen to the Hold Steady and the Sleater Kinny who's past efforts I've enjoyed
