Match Thread - Manchester United vs Leeds United (Wed 17th July)
Manchester United vs Leeds United
Wednesday 17th July 2019, 12:00pm | Optus Stadium, Perth
Leeds United face Manchester United on Wednesday at the Optus Stadium, Perth in the first game of their pre-season tour of Australia. A relatively small squad of 16 players, a mixture of first team and U23s, made the trip across the world to take on Manchester United and Western Sydney Wanderers. Those players who were involved in international duty and the recent signings all miss out including Peacock-Farrell, White, Alioski, Shackleton, Klich, Costa, Clarke plus Ayling who is currently injured. Leeds fans will be pleased to see that Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe are both involved.
The game in Perth follows Leeds two victories over York and Guiseley last week. The five nil victory over York City at Bootham Crescent last Tuesday saw Jack Harrison score twice with Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw all bagging one each before ten second half substitutions saw some of the promising young talent from the U23s feature. Wednesday’s game against Guiseley AFC was anything but a stroll in the park. Guiseley were a far more physical outfit than York but with 82 minutes gone minute Bogusz volleyed the ball home for 12 yards to give Leeds a 2-1 victory and an unbeaten record heading to Australia.
Manchester United kicked off their pre-season tour of Australia with a 2-0 victory over Perth Glory on Saturday with half-time substitutes Marcus Rashford and James Garner scoring the goals. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used 23 players against Perth and is expected to name a strong team for the game with De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Dalot, McTominay, Garner, Pogba, James, Greenwood and Rashford tipped to feature. Luke Shaw is their only real concern after coming off against Perth Glory with a hamstring injury.
Leeds squad available for the match;
Kiko Casilla, Kamil Miazek, Barry Douglas, Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi, Bryce Hosannah, Clarke Oduor, Adam Forshaw, Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison, Kalvin Phillips, Jordan Stevens, Mateusz Bogusz, Kemar Roofe, Patrick Bamford
Predicted starting eleven;
Casilla, Dallas, Cooper, Berardi, Douglas, Hernandez, Philips, Forshaw, Roofe, Harrison, Bamford
The game will be avaialble on LUTV though at £7.99 for a match pass fans may be looking elsewhere to watch.

My main concern is any conflict between the fans. Leeds & scum don't mix !
Just hope both sets of fans behave themselves & safety measures are in place from the Australian authorities to counteract any problems.

It said on Sky Sports News that they're expecting 60,000 for the game! How impressive is that for a pre-season game? We are the EFL's top draw by a country mile.

Turned the commentary off. Too annoying the constant references to 'United', meaning them. Also not getting any sense of how we are playing.
