Interviewer asked Sterling if he felt he justified his selection?

There was a world class player on the pitch today, but it wasn't Kane.

The interviewer certainly didn't justify their job. Stupid question.

Kane struggling on BBC's player rating too at around 4.7. Kalvin winning by a mile

Best player on the pitch who produced a magnificent performance in the biggest game of his career. Leeds fans know all too well about his ability, but today the World stood up and took notice. Beaming with pride.

Kalvin Phillips vs. Croatia:

44 touches
94% pass accuracy
31/33 successful passes
7 ball recoveries
4 duels won
3/3 successful long passes
2 successful take-ons
1 tackle won
1 interception
1 assist

Magnificent performance and provided the all-important assist at

Controlled perfect start by Ingerland. What a performance from Kalvin, i'm not gonna lie my bottom lip was quivering a few times throughout the game. Not only is it great to see a Leeds lad represent England impeccably, i couldn't help cast my mind to think how his family would be thinking and especially his late Granny Val.

I thought Walker was poor particularly first half and i couldn't help think that England set-up was made for Ayling. There is no better, fitter attacking RB in England. Special mention for Mings i thought the lad was excellent.

Top 4 England players for me.

Phillips 10
Mings 9
Sterling 8
Rice 8

WTF, was what I first thought when I saw '1 tackle won', then I notice 7 ball recoveries and 4 duels won. And that - while it more accurately described what he did - had me more confused as I don't know the difference between recovering the ball, winning a duel and winning a tackle.

Typical English press try and ruin the lads big occasion by planting negative seeds.
