Leeds Utd v Nottingham Forest - Match Thread

Post by Ellandback1 » Thu Aug 08, 2019 8:20 am

Leeds Utd v Nottingham Forest

Saturday 8th August 2019 12.30pm | Elland Road

Leeds first home game of their centennial season see's them welcoming Nottingham Forest to Elland Road. Leeds and Forest have always had a rocky relationship dating back to the Don Revie - Brian Clough days, however Forest fans still hold a grudge from last season when Roofe earned Leeds a point having scored with his hand at close range.

Leeds have no fresh injury worries. Jamie Shackleton is regaining his fitness after time spent on the treatment table, whilst Ayling and Roberts continue to be ruled out. After a steady performance against Bristol City, Stuart Dallas looks set to retain his right back slot.

Even with an influx of players expecting to arrive at Elland Road before Thursday tea time's transfer deadline, Bielsa very rarely changes a winning team.

Sabri Lamouchi's first competitive game for Forest ended up in a 2-1 home defeat against West Brom last weekend. Since then, the former French International has signed defender Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal and Caen shot stopper Brice Samba to tighten up their defence.

That's a pretty safe bet

Death, taxes and Bielsa picking the same team :)

I think so, maybe a while before we see Costa start.

Have a feeling this may be a by-the-numbers win for us.

No such thing as a certainty in this division ! I think we will (should) win but not by many.

Just a gut feeling on my part, not to be used as basis for confidence nor accumulators. :)

It's a game we should win. Their goalie had a 'mare in their last game so hopefully with all the chances we create we ought to be able to beat them comfortably but....this is the championship!

Should be a comfortable home win but this is Leeds so......

Still going for a 3-0 Leeds

Same 11 batting injuries.

Berardi on the bench now his suspension is over.

Think we should be able to do a number here - can't think of there danger men...

Cant wait, first game as a LUFC Season Ticket Holder :-)

Would expect an unchanged team with probably Berardi on the bench for one of the youngsters and the new keeper along with Nketiah of course.

Forest are a team in transition under a new coach and there for the taking but with the likes of Grabban and Lolly they do have players that can hurt us at the back so we have to defend well.

Hopefully a nice comfortable 2 v 0 win.

Forest will feel aggrieved at not taking anything from their opener last week at home to WBA.

I thought they looked good at times but were let down by their keeper.

It would be nice to see Eddie on the bench.

Eddie reminds me of Ian wright and I think he really suits our high line and tempo. Surely a nightmare for tiring defences

Joe Lolley and Matty Cash are decent.
Lolley has scored a few from outside the box.
Tough start for them, West Brom then us.
Fairly confident we can leave them on zero points after Saturday's game...cue my weekend sulk after we lose....
