Looking forward to another year in the NFL. Was in Gillette Stadium Foxboro, place for the 6th championship banner was ready. Should see it hoisted this Sunday.

Lucky to live in Boston area, with both Red Sox and Patriots winning last year. Hoping Bruins go one step closer and Celtics make it a fun season.

Still fitting in all the Leeds games too. Somehow Leeds give me the most pain when we loose.

I have an old school friend who lives near Boston and he said I can stay with him and his family whenever it suits me and he will book tickets for a game.
Just need to convince the missus now.....

I only pay attention to American football after the World Series has concluded.

American football has been so successful, in large part, because it's an incredibly easy game to bet on and also because, more than any sport I can think of, it's made for television. The break in the action between plays allows for replays and analysis (plus you can break away for commercials and not miss any action).

In fact, American football is a much better game on television than it is in the stadium. The view of the game is much better on television., and there are the replays.

NFL games in person are drunk fests. My brother used to have season tickets for the Patriots in the "no alcohol" section, and all the people sitting around him would run up onto the concourse, buy as many beers as they were allowed, chug them all down, and return to their seats six sheets to the wind. Sitting in that section was an ugly experience.

Sitting in other sections wasn't any prettier. There the beers come to you.

Average ticket price for an NFL game is over $100. Parking is at least $40 (mass transit to most stadiums is unheard of), beers are at least $10 (so a lot of people get liquored up in the parking lot before the game), soft drinks are about $7, and food is prohibitively expensive. It's common to see fights break out.

I've been to a bunch of NFL games in San Francisco, Oakland, Foxboro, and New York, and will never go to another one. Why blow two hundred bucks to sit among a bunch of profane, rowdy, drunks when I can go to a local watering hole, sit among a bunch of other fans, and enjoy the game, food, and a beverage without the massive expense?

I enjoy the game quite a bit (not quite to the extent that I love football or baseball, but close), I just won't ever go to the games in person.

And, of course, I would enjoy it a lot more if my Giants weren't so pathetic.

Not the best game to start the season, divisional rival, both more defence orientated these days, and both looking extremely rusty after both didn't really use starters in the pre season..Not too much to read into that one.

Most impressive players were Blake Martinez the MIKE for Green Bay and Roy Robertson Harris for the Bears who made himself a nuisance all night, both run games never got going which was a bit strange as both teams want to be run first outfits..

TNF is often poor and this one caught both teams cold. Good win for the Pack, a bit of a disaster losing at home to a DR for the Bears

Agree on watching American Football live, better watching @home, especially in the northeast in December snow storm plus wind chill ( not been to Lambeau field but am sure its a frozen tundra).
Watching baseball, especially at Fenway or Wrigley is an experience, like going to Lords or even the Oval.
Looking forward to the NFL season should be a good ride, having a respectable team that competes year in year out helps ( btw I was there after '85 Pats debacle and the lean years thereafter).
But watching the whites, still ranks higher !

The best receiver in the league talks his way out of Pittsburgh and we (The Raiders) send a third (the Steelers take their AB replacement) and a 5th for his services while paying him a 3 year 50M contract of which 30 Million dollars is guaranteed

He misses training camps citing foot injuries from when he had some sort of Cryo treatment and went in the machine with wet feet which caused his soles to get frostbitten I guess. He starts a procedure against the NFL because they banned his helmet as unsafe and all new helmets have to meet code

He continues with the suit against the NFL appealing against the original decision and now won't practice with us until he gets a helmet he can play with

He turns up at training camp for his first visit in a hot air balloon, still can't play coz sore feet and no helmet. Loses appeal and re-appeals

Fails to show up for team meetings get's fined, calls out our GM as a hater for fining him, gets fined again

Few more days of no shows, then turns up at training uses a racial slur (I'm told) at our GM and threatens to "f**k up his face" ..Gets threatened with suspension which would lose him his guarantees. Raiders say he will not be playing Monday v Denver

Comes in the next day apologies to management and team mates, Raiders FO allows him back and says he will be starting Monday v the Broncos..All is well again but they do fine him again which voids his guarantees

This morning AB posts on instagram the the Raiders are disrespectful and they need to release him from his contract AND WE'RE BACK TO SQUARE 1. He won't be playing for us ever

Yeah he got released just as I posted ...Be interesting now to see if he takes it to the players union now to get his money. We've paid him nothing so far as it was a backloaded contract. He was getting 14M for the season once he started playing plus training bonuses none of which he earned..In fact the quarter mill in fines is actually a credit for us at the moment...The guaranteed money would have been paid in 20 and 21

He can now play for another team starting from 9pm tonight our time. We start the season without a WR1, bit like having a 40 goal a season guy we paid 30M for just walk away and the next guy up who is a 10 goal a season guy replacing him. That's the drop off.
