Derby players Tom Lawrence & Mason Bennett charged with drink-driving

Post by 1964white » Thu Sep 26, 2019 8:45 am

If these idiots are found guilty of this charge jail the silly tw*ts, they could have killed someone.

I wonder what their fans think of this incident in comparison to someone looking through a fence

Were they racing and crashed into each other? And they were over the limit. And it was dark...

Book Thrown.

I wonder if Derby will show them the door.

I know that stretch of the A6 quite well, it's a wide straight road, with a 50mph limit, and quiet at that time of night. It looks like it's the signpost to Quarndon which has been demolished, which pinpoints it further.

To stack a Range Rover like that would require a fair amount of speed, and I imagine you'd have to be fairly pissed, or driving very recklessly, to lose control of it in those conditions.

It's all speculation at this point, but there's the possibility of custodial sentences if they were well over. Be interesting to see how the club respond; whether self interest dictates backing, and retaining, the players, or being seen to take the high ground and bin them off. Neither are exactly performing well, so the main loss would be Lawrences sale value.

Can't help wondering if players getting pissed up on a weekday night is indicative of wider discipline or commitment issues. I can't imagine Bielsa standing for any such nonsense.

In any case, a great piece of instant karma, especially in the case of Bennett, who was on his high horse about Leeds getting the fair play award.

Derby statement: "cannot condone" actions of "a small group of players" "including captain Richard Keogh, [which] continued drinking into the night. They should have known when to stop & ignored opportunity to be driven home using cars laid on by the club, and chose to stay out"

Continues: "As a result of an alcohol-related incident, Richard Keogh has sustained a serious knee injury that will prevent him from playing until the end of the season. The players involved will be subject to a rigorous internal investigation."

Could they not have had this 'scheduled team-building dinner' last week?

Of course not. This was their end of season celebration after they had snatched an undeserved draw in their cup final.

Thats disgraceful.

If that was a normal person they would have the book thrown at them and rightly so, drink driving is shameful, ffs its knowingly putting the lives of other people at risk.

From a footballing perspective its pathetic, shows a lack of respect for the club and fans.

Bielsa would kill them!!!!

Mel Morris will probably be able to write off the fines they receive as operating costs..

"cant condone" and then offering help with their rehabilitation ...is that not a contradiction in terms. I bet Sky have had nothing else on besides this for the last few days and coming weeks....NOT !

Sounds like there could be more to this...

Rumours Bradley Johnson was in the car too, possible other substances found as well.

A group of young millionaires with not a brain cell between them.

Fortunately Wayne Rooney will arrive soon and then they will . . . . . have an even larger group without a brain cell between them

This just gets better & more murkier from a club that has twisted rules, lied & have a set of fans who have given us constant grief about spygate
