Good Morning. It's Monday 14th October, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines...
Tabloids stir over Nketiah
Over the weekend The Sun, Mirror and the Star (so it must be true) all claimed that Eddie Nketiah's time at Elland Road was coming to an end, and the 20 year old was to be recalled in January and sent on loan somewhere else. This sparked a reaction from a host of clubs including Bristol City who narrowly missed out on the Striker in the Summer. Ex White Danny Mills stoked the fire further when asked if Nketiah was banging on the manager’s door
Yeah he is, but he just hasn’t really had a chance at Leeds from the start. It’s an interesting one, clearly it’s something that Bielsa doesn’t quite see in training, playing international football is different, it’s not the same as playing league football and certainly Championship football.
You have to trust Marcelo Bielsa and say what is he not seeing in training? What is not happening for him to not be put in the starting line up? There’s just something that isn’t right. Bielsa clearly doesn’t trust him yet.
If you were Nketiah, how would you be feeling? Has Bielsa treated the youngster badly?
Radrizzani - investment would take the club to a level where we could “compete with Manchester City”
Radrizzani has revealed to Martin Ziegler of The Times that he is considering an offer from Qatar that would take the club to a level where they could “compete with Manchester City”
I’m giving you more information than I ever gave to anyone. I have been approached by more than 20 parties and I have selected these three.
The option of Qatar Sports Investment and Nasser — first of all they are friends, we have had a good relationship for a long time. Secondly, they have the possibility to bring this club to compete with Manchester City, so for the fans that could be a fantastic opportunity.
The second is based in America, he’s a big fan of Leeds United since he was a child, and I like that.
Another one is the owner of an Italian club. With another club you can create synergy to be more competitive and to target the Premier League - we could maybe get a loan to increase the quality of the team.
The big question is, would you want money thrown at the club, so that Leeds could be amongst Europe's elite?
Liverpool lining up £20m offer for Ben White
Various reports in the media are claiming that Liverpool are lining up a 20m offer for Ben White. The 22yo is enjoying the best football of his life at Elland Road having been signed on loan from Brighton in the Summer.
Liverpool have been widely criticised in the past for the way they conduct their transfers (I'm sure we all remember the Harry Kewell affair that left Leeds with nothing once agents fees were paid). In 2017, they were fined, banned from signing academy players and forced to apologise to Southampton for the way they conducted their business in their pursuit of Virgil Van Dijk.
According to the journalist, he could be an ideal backup option and further develop under a manager, who has an impeccable record of improving players and making them world-class!
Will the lure of 20m for a player who hasn't kicked a ball before for the Seagulls be enough to tempt them to part with the centre back? Will the speculation turn White's head, and affect his play? Is there a recall clause in his contract?
