Bielsa Press Conference Pre Reading - 25/11/19

Post by 1964white » Mon Nov 25, 2019 11:49 pm

Team news

Same 18 players for the trip to Reading.

Eddie Nketiah?

Next Thursday he is going to train with the group. From there we will see how he is going

Hernandez - what did you make of him?

He played an important match for us. He built offensive play in the right and in the centre. He was a positive return for him.

Reading - what have you made of them?

The result improve. They kept their shape. The proposal of the new manager was welcomed in the sense that they kept their shape but improved the result.

What have you made of Mark Bowen?

You always try to interpret coaches with how their teams play. The profile of the player is an offensive team, in the midfield they have creative players. 8, 10, 14 - both attacks have impact. Both full-backs have an impact.

Leeds have scored twice in the last few games - a welcome change?

We have a lack of efficiency regarding our chances. For each time in the last match we needed 16 chances to get two goals, the opponent just needed four to score once. That means we have a lot to develop in the offensive play.

Liam Cooper - how close is he to starting?

He will probably play. He played 30 minutes and he has trained. We are going to wait to see how he is tomorrow.

Adam Pope

Cooper will be given every chance to confirm his fitness to see if he can start at Reading. Otherwise it sounds like the same starting XI.

Bielsa gives a ringing endorsement of the owner's investment basically saying there has been a lot of money put into things that are not seen by others. Feels the club's various departments are functioning well & support him as head coach

Bielsa says he is confident that Victor Orta will provide solutions & recommendations if they are required in the transfer window in 5 weeks time.

Bielsa asked how he’d changed this season - says he is “less involved” than last year

What does he mean by this?

In the descision making? In transfers? On the training pitch?

Maybe he just sits at the training ground in his rocking bucket, with a pipe in his gob, watching studiously and saying very little...

Or he could mean that he has no spies out there any more...
I'm often accused of acting like I don't care

It's not an act!!

Or maybe he was involved greatly in setting up a new system from youth right up to first team last season and now things are ticking over and don't require as much personal supervision.

Does seem our U23's need a kick up the backside bearing in mind their league status & the fact none of them are good enough for the first team this season

I would imagine he needed to be far more hands on last year as the stuff he was implementing was revolutionary in comparison to what the players were used to. Now it is likely a lot more fine tuning with more observing and tweaking things.

I got the vibe that less involved also meant less contact with the players, as now that the squad understand his thinking he can then trust them to get on with things.
'We can wait for the next game with serenity'

'I am quite clear in my mind that one has to feel sincere love for those he leads, and if he doesn't feel it naturally, then he must learn how to feel it' Marcelo Bielsa

'Would he kill his granny to win a match?' Bobby Collins
