The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 6th December) U18's dazzling display KO's Hull

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It;s Friday 6th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Bielsa's Pre Match Press Conference

As predicted, Bielsa confirmed that with Kalvin Phillips suspended for one game, centre back Ben White will replace him at defensive midfield. It is believed that Berardi will be recalled to parner Cooper at centre back.

Here is the press conference in full, including injury updates on Forshaw, Shackleton and Roberts.

Leeds U18's progress in Cup after dazzling display

Leeds U18's progressed to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-1 victory over Hull City at Elland Road last night.

It wasn't all plain sailing as the Tigers took a surprise lead after just 38 seconds. Leeds however kept their composure and were level twenty seven minutes later with a moment of magic from left back Joshveer Shergill.

The Whites were ahead just before half time as Captain Charlie Cresswell's bullet header gave the Hull keeper no chance.

It was Cresswell that sealed the points, twenty minutes from time. A Hull free kick into the Leeds penalty area was cleared. Gibbon broke up field superbly, before playing Haugland in who was then taken out by a Hull defender, and the referee pointed to the spot.

Cresswell made no mistake from twelve yards.

Are Leeds heading for a slump after Christmas?

The data compiled below shows which months the club have taken the most points in the last decade.

August (45%)
September (43%)
October (32%)
November (58%)
December (49%)
January (36%)
February (36%)
March (39%)
April (27%)
May (38%)

Does this surprise you? Why are Leeds so poor in the second half of the season? What can Bielsa do change things?

Interesting, those fixated with stats can now see that our falling away in the second half of the season has been happening for years and Bielsa and burnout are not to blame for last season.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

Morning All,

I'm pretty certain the change you have mentioned EB1 will be the only change to the starting line up. I expect we will see Eddie at some stage in the game, when depends on how things are going.
I can't believe Shackleton is injured again though. How has that happened, he has hardly played since his last injury?
Roberts in another who seems very injury prone as well. It does make you wonder if that is why West Brom sold him.

Great win for the 18's last night. Charlie Cresswell looks a real prospect.

I worry for us without Kalvin.

On a brighter note, pablos hitting form so lets get them on the counter unless they decide to sit back

Morning folks,

Well if those stats are repeated we may as well all book a holiday in April, and somewhere with no internet connection, Scotland maybe....

That does include a few years of poorly coached teams and poor fitness regimens

A very average journeyman manager out of his depth in the championship let alone the premiership

Surely a conflict of styles too, or are Watford hoof merchants these days?

Pablo Hernandez runs in the 5.50 Wolverhampton race tomorrow, current odds 12/1

Still got it at an advancing age & Wolverhampton obviously isn’t the highest grade, but he’s still not going to beat a racehorse

Talking about early kick-offs I see our game at Loftus Road is now 12.30pm. Now that will be a very early morning start for our fans :(
