The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Fri 17th January) One year from Spygate, Derby County charged for breaking FFP rules

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Friday 17th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

One year from Spygate, Derby County charged for breaking FFP rules

Just when Derby must have thought they had managed to manipulate and cheat their fellow 23 Championship Clubs, the EFL swoop on the Rams issuing the following statement...

Following a review of Derby County’s Profitability and Sustainability submissions, the EFL has charged the Club for recording losses in excess of the permitted amounts provided for in EFL regulations for the three-year period ending 30 June 2018.

You can imagine what kind of devastating impact the news would have on both owners, staff and players alike. It's enough for Wayne Rooney's hair to fall out (again)! Not only did Derby owner Mel Morris sell Pride Park, and have a third party but it back again, but it was bought back for £80m, twice the value. Perhaps their (and our) sponsors 32 Red will help them out? They are allegedly funding most of Wayne Rooney's wages (£1.5m).

This news comes exactly one year on from Spygate, when Derby alleged that a Leeds spy had been arrested for breaking into their ground, hiding in the bushes with binoculars and a pair of pliers. To say this report was loosely based on a true story is as hard to believe as a Prince Andrew impact statement!

Another target slips the net as Leeds look to land Bowen

The Sun are reporting that Leeds were lining up a move for Hull’s Jarrod Bowen. The 23 year old has racked up 16 goals in the Championship this season, just two less than top scorers Ollie Watkins and Aleksandar Mitrovic. A £3m loan fee, with a £12m promotion clause is thought to be on the table.

Despite The Sun's article, North of England Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton has rubbished the speculation saying 'I’m told that Leeds are not in for Hull forward Jarrod Bowen, despite reports linking him with a move to Elland Road'.

This news comes 24 hours after confirmation that the Whites had missed out on their latest target Andy King. The 31 year old has penned a deal with neighbours Huddersfield Town.

Morning EB et all

I fully expect the Rams to blame this all on Spygate claiming they have evidence that the original Spygate was a rouse to allow Bielsa himself break into their offices and falsify the paperwork to make it look like they are a cheating bunch of lying bar-stewards.

They are also going to sue Leeds for injury to their players during in “that car crash” as they are now claiming that Coops was driving.

I’d love Bowen to sign for us, as I think his style of play, the fact he’s happy to play a number of positions and knows how to score will fit Bielsaball perfectly

Morning folks,

Bowen, so what is in it for Hull?

Same as what was in it for Southampton.

Nothing.

But a £3M loan fee for 4 months for a Vhampionship player smacks of desperation on our part.

We should beg / bribe Arsenal to send Ed back, he wont get many games there behind Aubsmeyang ( apart from his 3 match ban)

Lets not forget that Bielsa himself said that if the Nketiah deal doesn't work out then it will be on him. He's created this situation himself. First by selling roofe, then by selling jansson and now by giving arsenal reason to recall eddie by not playing him enough.

Really well said. Bielsa has created the problem.

Arsenal want to keep him in their first team, but he wasn't good enough for Leeds?

Bowen would be a great signing and I would be amazed if there were any truth in our approach for him let alone hull agreeing to it. It is just as unlikely as Grey or Adams. These are all players that are considered to be needed by their current teams and as such it would take bids above what we are capable of offering to secure them. I do think the Leeds fans are impacting our current transfer policy, orta and kinear are probably worried about the backlash if we sign relative unknowns from the continent again - though we may have no option than to resort to this.

We're desperate for someone to blame, aren't we.

Points deductions follow Gary Monk like the stench of death... First at Birmingham and all the indications point to the fact that the recent attempt by Sheffield Wednesday to sell 10 year season tickets for #4500 is a vain attempt to balance the books. I wonder how many fans have a spare 4500 lying around.

In Bielsa's last interview he went to great lengths to stress that Leeds were setting an example for the rest of the league to follow. There is something honest and upright in the way Bielsa does things. whereas Monk has been accused of receiving kickbacks from players agents if he bought them in during the transfer window. Cellini called him out on this as did Pep Colet.

We all like to think that justice will be given to those that do right and that misdeeds will be punished. In the light of this the Sheffield Wednesday victory will be a hollow one. What price salvation now Gary???

Well yes. I like your optimism but we really are screwed if we don't go up this time. Ultimately its the people making decisions that are to blame. To fail in the same way as last season would be new levels of capitulation even for leeds.

What does we're screwed entail?

Yes I too blame Bielsa of creating the situation that sees us in an automatic promotion place.

Yes he's done well...that's not to say the management between them have and still are papering over some gaping cracks. Some decisions have been bewildering and right now Leeds are scraping the barrel to find more than 11 players with first team experience . He's done well now let's see if he can get promotion .

BG is probably referring to losing Phillips, White, Harrison & god forbid Marcelo, also Pablo will be another year older.
