Jean-Kévin Augustin-Appealing wage compensation
Unless he is trolling us by liking multiple tweets by our fans then its safe to say all being well he is arriving
22 years old.
Striker capable of playing on the wing.
5ft10.
Came through the PSG academy and scored lots of goals for them.
Broke in to the 1st team aged just 17.
Struggled for game time though playing only 30 games or so (some randomers called Cavani and Ibrahimovic were 1st choice).
Moved to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig 2 years ago for €13million.
Enjoyed a very decent 1st season in Germany, 2nd highest scorer for Leipzig who finished 6th that year and Europa League Quarter finalists.
12 goals in all competitions including in European competitions and had the 4th best minutes to goals ratio in the entire league for players that played more then 900minutes.
Played with players like Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita and German goal machine Timo Werner.
Ironically his manager was The Hoff (Ralph Hasenhüttl).
Sporting Director Ralf Ragnick took over last season, JK played less games due to the form of Werner and Poulsen but still managed 8 goals to help Leipzig finish 3rd.
A loan with an option to buy to Monaco followed and now here we are.
At one point Augustin was considered as good if not a better prospect then Kylian Mbappe!!!!
At the 2016 Under 19 European Championships, France won.
Dominic Solanke, Izzy Brown, Issa Diop (West Ham cb), Ruben Dias ( Benfica cb who was wanted by Man City, Real Madrid and every one else before signing a new deal), and Kylian Mbappe were all playing in that tournament.
Jean-Kévin Augustin was the golden boot winner and named player of the tournament.
After that tournament both Mbappe and Augustin had impressive breakout seasons for Monaco and Leipzig respectively.
Unfortunately for Augustin he was unable to build on that and was unfortunate to find himself behind one of the hottest strikers in Europe in Werner.
Mbappe of course went on to join JKA's former club and Augustin has been trying to rediscover that 1st season form ever since.
Had Timo Werner been sold after that 1st season and Jean-Kévin Augustin was given the chance to replace him then who knows what may have happened?
So will we be happy to welcome the former French wonderkid if he arrives?
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AND TALENT.
ALL INVOLVED SHOULD HAND THEIR HEADS IN SHAME

Re: Jean-Kévin Augustin
Only wrinkle I foresee is the financials.
Looks like a great player and one whose guile and trickery could unlock that deep defending thatbww have to face almost week in week out.
Plus he can hit a FC.
Next week is going to be intense.

Re: Jean-Kévin Augustin
I am a little concerned that he found himself behind the overhyped and past it Ibrahimovic. At 5ft 10inches he is unlikely to win a single header in this league as almost all the opposition teams have a minimum of five or six 7ft plus players. At least with him being deemed versatile enough to be able to play on the wing it should help him to adapt quicker when Bielsa plays him at full back to free up Dallas on a more permanent basis to play in the hole. A poor man's Billy Sharp I fear.

That's not nice Weasel .Think of all the good things Billy brought .
Re: Jean-Kévin Augustin
Very happy if this works out. He looks an exciting, quality player, and is only likely to improve under Bielsa.

Will be thrilled if this comes to pass.
Won't say a bad word about the front office the rest of the way, either. Both Poveda and Augustin look to be class.

Re: Jean-Kévin Augustin
Shame he's not a 6 footer but can't have everything in suppose. Hope he does well and settles in quickly.

I know those You-tube clips can make a lot of players look better than they are BUT he looks really good. Let's hope he's the real deal and we sign him. Things would be looking brighter if we get him and Yan (Ian).
Re: Jean-Kévin Augustin
Only disappointment is he isnt going to play vs Millwall is he

Overhyped ibrahimovich?! What?! Hasn't he scored like over 500 goals?weasel wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:10 pm I am a little concerned that he found himself behind the overhyped and past it Ibrahimovic. Agueros about 5 ft 7 and doesn't seem to affect him. What would you prefer, us to sign a beanpole like crouch?! Great signing, Jeese, no pleasing some!
Calling him a poor man's Billy sharp because he's not over 6 foot... Right!

Re: Jean-Kévin Augustin
Peter Crouch - offer him £30k per week and a bonus if we get promoted should tempt him out of retirement. Would solve all our problems and be money well spent cos we would be guaranteed to go up. Matt Smith, seems like QPR fans don't rate him so bring him back - £2m up front should be enough. Them 2 in the team and no doubt at all we would go up especially if we ditch all this playing around at the back and just went long ball. Might be a long shot but could also see if Niall Quinn is still in any sort of shape cos he wouldn't need to run about too much and we would need back up.danhirons wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 10:54 pm Overhyped ibrahimovich?! Could also get Neil Warnock on a 6 month contract to get us promoted. Then Bielsa takes over once again.

I do so hope this is true. While the team plays great stuff up to the actual net, he and Poveda look able to add a certain bit of spark we’ve been missing since Saiz departed. Sometimes a team just needs that little something different. This may be it.
