Sort of surprised it hasn't even been mentioned as yet.

Can I have a compilation album released in 84? Bob Marley - Legend.
If comps aren’t allowed I’ll take Sade - Diamond Life.
Some belters in this year imo

Diamond Life is a cracker, Sade is a favourite in the 64's household I personally love soulful acts.

Yeah absolutely. A really good time for music for me with Simple Minds, The Smiths, Echo, Big Country and The Cure all having a major influence on me musically all of which still feature in my top 10 bands of all time.
Re: Album of 1984 - NOMINATE NOW!
My timeline on Farcebook has informed me it was released on this very day back in 84. So it and I share a birthday......it's younger than me though........John in Louisiana wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 6:55 pm Were I still taking part, I'd nominate "The Big Express" by XTC.

Happy birthday Durly
I’m assuming you never logged your DoB when joining ………..or Hector would have posted your very own Happy birthday thread this morning.

It's up there for sure. The album on CD is a little thin for me lacking depth, you can't feel the music. But it probably has the best tracks on it. I much prefer all those tracks live on whatever album you may find them on. Live s**t is my go to. Best album for sound is still probably Load, a massively underrated rock classic for me despite Till It SleepsJohnboy1965 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:09 am Their best album IMO though Master of Puppets is a close second.
Cliff's base intro on For Whom the Bell Tolls is pure class.
Master over Ride by the smallest amount as it has Sanitarium on it, a particular favourite

Big Country - Steeltown
Bit disappointed that no one has nominated Cocteau Twins or Blue Nile, as it was a 3 way split and I sort of tossed a coin.......

Difficult choice for this year Durly, I almost went for the Cocteau Twins and would have been happy with lots of albums that others have nominated.

Aye mate. 1984 was a formative year for me. Started going to gigs, left school, started frequenting pubs, made friends for life.........incredibly good times.White Riot wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 6:12 pm Difficult choice for this year Durly, I almost went for the Cocteau Twins and would have been happy with lots of albums that others have nominated.

Totally agree re Sanitarium one of my favourites also along with One from And Justice For All, which as an album was let down by the dubbing down of the bass leaving it a bit flat for me.faaip wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 11:58 am It's up there for sure. To be fair though they all sound good on vinyl!
Only album I'm not keen on is St Anger which is very disjointed as documented by the Some kind of Monster documentary on Netflix.
