As sure as night follows day. Udinese chairman/gangster is no mugandrewjohnsmith wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 7:44 pm Bet whatever their asking price was, they just upped it after the Cuisance news
Re: Rodrigo de Paul - RUMOUR/RUSE
Disappointment about Cuisance aside imo De Paul always looked the perfect player for us, look how deep he comes, he isnt just a 10.
Personally dont believe he was a smokescreen (i dont think RDP would have responded and took the flack he undoubtedly got for that unless serious conversations had taken place).
I think Radz talked to Pozzo on a personal level similar to how he did for Dan James.
Over lunch negotiations sort of thing without officially offering anything.
As others have said unfortunately i think any chance of De Paul's price dropping is gone.
We are at £23mil they are at £32mil.
Just forget the winger and get De Paul.

Re: Rodrigo de Paul - RUMOUR/RUSE
In hindsight (well not actually hindsight, felt this at the time to).
We should have pushed the boat out for De Paul, £32mil was a fair price (Brewster cost Blades £24mil).
Our midfield is all over the place, the lack of a natural midfielder next to Klich is obvious (sorry Rodrigo).
De Paul is having another outstanding season for Udinese.
3rd best for chances created per game in Serie A
2nd best for dribbles per game
2nd best for most fouled per game.
He is also the Udinese Captain, a leader.
£32mil is a lot of money for a newly promoted side but imo we made a huge error not doing the deal.
Our midfield is all over the place, De Paul would have helped immensely.

Re: Rodrigo de Paul - RUMOUR/RUSE
Would push Bamford to the bench I guess and Rodrigo into his natural 9 position
Honey dipped flim flam
Re: Rodrigo de Paul - RUMOUR/RUSE
Isn't de Paul an attacking midfielder?
Not sure attacking is the problem right now... Klich, raph, Rodrigo etc. All providing enough going forward. We were just cut open defensively (through the defence and midfield).
We've already spent a lot of money this season I'm not sure we can really justify another 30 plus mill signing. Maybe next year when hernandez will probably be too old

Also has anyone actually regularly watched this guy play?
Re: Rodrigo de Paul - RUMOUR/RUSE
More of a Klich than a PAblo i believe, he may be a creative Argentinian but from reading and highlights he is more of an 8 than a 10 , Udinese dont play with a natural number 10 he would be seen as a bit like Pablo was for us.danhirons wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 2:55 pm Isn't de Paul an attacking midfielder?

He even played defensive midfield a few times this season according to reports.
In short, versatile, would probably prefer going forward but he isnt afraid to do the dirty work.
Cant say i have watched a full match but did watch a lot of match highlights in the summer, from what i saw he would provide a better balance and help Klich.
Also like his attitude, has been linked with a big move for a few years, all the to[p Italian clubs but never makes a fuss, just accepts whatever ha[ppens.

Please

Rectify your error Radz.

Re: Rodrigo de Paul - RUMOUR/RUSE
Can’t see it happening unfortunately. Not now and not ever :/
Teams like Juve reportedly after him and he’s going to cost £35m+
Out of our price range I feel, especially for January.

why do we think this guy is so good? Has anyone actually watched him play much?
rodrigo has better stats (at least from last season than him...7 goals, 11 assists vs 7 and 7)...
also we're never going to splash 35 mill in this transfer window now in my opinion, unless we offload costa, and someone else probably
