Plate pies

Post by liggy »

I was on an international business trip last week.
And called into the smithy at baldersby.
Fooking hell man £12 for a plate pie
2xcoffee and a plate pie £15.60 even tho I was clamming I ain't paying £12 pound for a plate pie.
There was a few in the shop but I said here pet you'll have to put that pie back in the fridge.
Crikey don Lynn sells the best pies in Northumberland for £3 a saucer.
Anyhoos things went from bad to worse £22.95 for the pleasure of haddock and chips at the angel fook that for a game of soldiers .
Harbour view seaton sluice give you a whale and homemade mushy peas for a tenner less.

it's your covid repercussions... can't get the ingredients, not for love nor money, and that is why the prices get hiked up.

and if your restaurant has fewer customers, then to make a profit, you have to increase the prices and charge the punters who frequent your establishment through the nose just to make a living.

I know from personal experience from visiting a Harvester Pub. If you eat enough free salad you can eventually feel full. :)

faaip, I'm Yorkshire born and bred and I've never heard of a plate pie !
I reckon they're on about a large pork pie, which round our way are called Stand Pies.
Come in different weights from our local butchers...1lb, 2lb etc..
No kilos at our butchers..🤔👍👍

My local diner here in the colonies are now used to me, but the first time I asked for a "bacon sandwich" they looked at me like I was an alien... the response was "not on the menu"... So I asked for a "BLT and hold the lettuce and tomato", she took the order without hesitation

A plate pie clues in the name mind
a pie the size of a dinner plate
Like Dickson's mince n onion family plate pie
goes canny with a vegetable like Maris pipers
and half a gallon of gravy.
If I cant finish mine I let tyson polish it off he's a greedy little ba***rd :pig: :

Growing up poor wasn't easy. Your behind the curve. Straight out of the oven, no washing up, just put the tin down for Tyson to lick clean and he's ready to fight Deontay Wilder again. Sorted. Oh and don't forget to recycle. ;-)
