Kemar Roofe

Post by Cjay »

Eventually will do one for every 1st team member. :-D

Today, its Kemar Roofe.

Great excitement greeted his arrival, unfortunately its been a bit meh.

Glimmers of talent, but ultimately those are few and far between.

Best in a number 10 role or as a main striker, Kemar has been used mainly as a winger, a position he doesnt have the work rate or pace for.

So, where do people stand on Kemar Roofe?

Potential match winner in the making, or over priced flop, a league above his level.

Personally, think there is a decent player there, but not a starter.

Saiz and Lasogga are a class above Roofe, so main striker and number 10 is out, and he isnt a winger so, sub role for me.

Feel for him a little, hes not a winger but mozt of his starts have been there. Problem for him is in his 2 favoured positions last year Wood and Hernandez and now Lasogga and Saiz are better but I'd prefer him to come on up front rather than Grot.

You know my opinion of playing players out of their natural position

Even so I'm still unconvinced Roofe is a championship striker

As for his playing position at Leeds, he is too small to play the No.9 role as he is easily knocked off the ball. Saiz & Hernandez have a bundle of quality between them for the No.10 spot. Kemar doesn't even come close for me !

£3m for Saiz :clap2:

£3m for Roofe

After saying all that I would have pushed Roofe upfront alongside Lasogga & not brought Grot on as a sub v Derby

I'm a Grot fan, feel very sorry for him also, being branded a flop based on 15minute cameos.

But i would agree, for the time being Roofe to get those cameos and Grot to get some u23 starts.

This is my issue with him, he hasnt the pace to be an over the top sort of forward and he doesnt seem to have the strengths to hold it up :duno:

Not slating Grot, I'm sure he has a part to play in the future but think Roofe is better equipped presently

Agree Grot is far from ready yet, shouldn't be even on the bench

I feel sorry for him as he has been thrown in the lion's den & is much younger than Roofe

He is a starter for you?

Know you praise quite a bit, just want to be sure.

Think we shall see less of Grot once Ekubans back tbf.

Roofe has a role to play for sure, showed good form as a number 10 actually at times, maybe an option if Saiz gets a bit jaded.

He's not atm because he's a 442 forward ....good player though imo

442 may be the role that suits him actually.
Cant see us playing that unless its diamond though, or Saiz has to be dropped, or moved out wide.

Did ok today, movement was good tbf, Lasogga is better imo but comparatively today, Roofe was better.

Prefer Roofe' work rate, the fact he makes it difficult for defenders and has good football IQ even if he still struggles to put that into practice. Got in more scoring positions in 5 minutes than Lassoga did all game. Then seemingly banished to the wing once Grot came on.

Agree Faaip, Roofe needs to be given a run in the team, he puts in more of a shift than Lassie and gets into the box before the opposition defenders not after the ball has left, perhaps we should be looking at a 442 with Roofe playing off of Lassie or Grot
