The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Wednesday 30th September) Cuisance is set to undergo medical at Elland Road today

Post by Ellandback1 »

Good Morning. It's Wednesday 30th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Cuisance is set to undergo medical at Elland Road today

Leeds and Bayern Munich have agreed on a fee of 20m for their highly-rated midfielder Michael Cuisance, but only with a buy-back clause inserted into the deal, giving the Germans the option of re-signing him in the future at a much higher price. Cuisance had reportedly grown tired of having a lack of game time with the German Champions and after a lengthy phone call from Bielsa himself, looks forward to being Leeds first natural attacking midfielder they have had since Saiz. The 21 year old is on his way to West Yorkshire to undergo a medical this afternoon and will be available for selection for the visit of Manchester City.

Leeds abandon hopes of landing James or Kent as third option is unveiled

Leeds have ditched their attempt to land Manchester United Winger Dan James, even if the Reds manage to capture their number 1 target Jadon Sancho, which would push the 22 year old down the pecking order further. The former Swansea player has told Solskjaer that he wants to stay and fight for his place. The baby faced assassin must think a lot of James as Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth has made it clear that they are desperate to offload players!

Leeds have also lost interest in Rangers Winger Ryan Kent. The Whites would have to part with 20m to activate his release clause. They believe they have uncovered a gem. Versatile Dutch Winger Gyrano Kerk has caught the eye of Cagliari, Verona and Celtic in recent times, having scored 11 goals last season.

The 24 year old has blistering pace, can operate on either wing or as a striker. He is seen as much better value for money player than Kent. Leeds have already opened communications with Dutch outfit FC Utrecht over an £8million fee. This proposed transfer seems to have silenced reports linking Teun Koopmeiners to a move to West Yorkshire.

Bielsa - Cooper is going nowhere

Marcelo Bielsa has also insisted Leeds captain Liam Cooper 'is a huge part of this club' following the arrival of Spain defender Diego Llorente. Llorente, 27, completed a reported £18million move from Real Sociedad this week, while another international centre-half, Germany's Robin Koch, joined Leeds last month from Freiburg for a fee of around £13m.

In principle I think he will play and Cooper is a huge part of this club,” “I’m referring to the patrimony between him and the institution. Institutions are bigger when they have patrimonies like this, when they have someone who behaves in an impeccable manner, as Cooper does.

It’s not that we plan to play with a back three more often and it’s not to increase competition, because Pascal played a very important game against Liverpool. Bielsa said of Llorente’s arrival. Koch is the only right-sided centre-back we have at the moment and if he got injured we would have had to get someone very young from the youth team or we would have had to move (Luke) Ayling or (Kalvin) Phillips out of position.

We don’t have Berardi and with Ben White having left, it was necessary to have two players to count on in this position.

Well, happy day. Cuisance looks like just what the doctor ordered, we're being sensible in our alternatives to James and Bielsa is now focusing on strength in depth. Quite surprised at that, considering his insistence on a small squad size but it should give Ayling some real peace of mind. Luke needs to be bombing forward and attacking, not guarding the doorstep.

Cuisance? Blimey. Happy days indeed.

Compare our activity in this window to the other promoted teams. Could hardly be more chalk and cheese. These signings make a massive statement of intent.

Very impressed with our work this time. So refreshing.

Morning Folks.

If true I'm happy the Kent story is over.
I'm 50/50 over James but time will tell.
Will we call him Dan 'Decca' James in the days to come?

These Dutch speedsters seem to be coming out of everywhere
'We can wait for the next game with serenity'

'I am quite clear in my mind that one has to feel sincere love for those he leads, and if he doesn't feel it naturally, then he must learn how to feel it' Marcelo Bielsa

Morning All,

Once the Cuisance deal is done we can all stop worrying about not enough strength in depth but start worrying about keeping everyone happy

It appears that all these new signings are Bielsa’s choice which is good!

We are being linked with winger Marcus Edwards, once of Spurs but now tearing it up in Portugal.

Since it’s a name I hadn’t heard mentioned till today, he’s probably signing tomorrow. :)

The Cuisance move seemed to go through very smoothly, I hope he settles in quickly and just as smoothly - Pablos are big boots to fill.

We seem to be building a biggish squad I haven’t counted them but I’m sure there are more than eighteen 1st teamers, I wonder if Bielsa has had a change of heart.

I think big clubs have a respect for Bielsa (and Orta too) Lets not forget what a fantastic job Orta has done this window.

I’ve always liked Orta’s passion for and commitment to the club but haven’t been a fan of his transfer dealings up till now. It remains to be confirmed through the season, I suppose, but yes, I’m quietly impressed so far by his dealings in this window.

I feel like Brenda from Bristol..... Not another one? and another possible £20m at that. If the PL is that profitable what was Norwich playing at? Someone is raking it in down there.

Another signing at 21 doesn't bode well for Shackleton, Bogusz et el. Unless he is for the u23's..? Who knows. He's a little raw in terms of first team appearances.

Radrizzani once confirmed we would not have Bielsa if it wasn't for Orta.

That'll be down to budget. In the Championship we were scrapping the barrel for good players. Now it would seem Orta as his pick of very good players from some very good teams. As you say still early days but Koch & Meslier looking good.

Quality players such as Kock, Rodrigo, Llorente & Cuisance will adapt quickly to Bielsa-ball as oppose to the signings we were making in the championship

For sure, hence their ability to slot right into the first team without a hitch in most cases. I remember Bielsa saying that the defensive positions were those that needed the least amount of acclimatisation which is why Koch started straight away, and presumably the most difficult is going to be the midfield, where most of the battling takes place and the offensive movement is more complex. Experience and natural ability are certainly be massive factors in their getting up to speed, again confirmed by Bielsa himself.

I've begun to appreciate just how tough a job Orta had in getting decent signings - or to quote our recruitment philosophy, better than we already had - while in the Championship. The difference between now and then is astonishing.

Right I’ve now counted them and there are 24:
Meslier
Casilla
Ayling
Cooper
Koch
Llorente
Davis
Douglas
Struik
Alioski
Dallas
Hernandez
Cuisance
Klich
Phillips
Shackleton
Gotts
McCalmont
Harrison
Costa
Poveda
Rodrigo
Bamford
Roberts

I think Davis, Gotts and McCalmont may go out on loan, if that’s possible, and Douglas may be sold if we get a decent offer, but that still leaves a squad of 20 + whoever else comes in (Dan James).

Very impressed by the incomings this transfer window. Orta has really stepped up to the plate seemingly (time will tell I suppose), but clearly his connections, and Bielsa's reputation are a different beast now we're on a global stage again. Also really appreciate the passion Orta has, and I wonder was he so animate and passionate in his former clubs, like he is at Leeds?

Love what Bielsa, Orta, and Radz have done for this club. What a great time to be a Leeds fan, so much optimism and excitement. There's no way we are relegation fodder this season.

As for further signings, I can only see any incoming signings if we move on some players on loan, and sell Douglas, Casillas. If Casillas goes, I see a GK coming in. Douglas goes, we may get cover at LB (though maybe Drameh can step up?). Would have loved to have seen RDP in a Leeds shirt but that ship has sailed now with Cuisance (who I am excited about).

McCalmont has already gone out on loan.
Davis is the best LB cover for Dallas IMO.
