USA Elections

Post by rab_rant »

Do you think TRUMP will be re-elected?
What are the big issues of the campaign?
Are the American people being forced to choose between the best of the worst to govern?

Trump has to go. I can't imagine what another 4 years is going to do the US and to the World. All this racism and division is having an effect across the world. If he wins, it will only be because of a rigged election, and the worst part is that really could happen. His presidency is verging on authoritarianism and the level-headed republicans are just playing along.

Biden might not be an inspired choice but he's a safe choice. He'll get back to government being run the way it should be run. He'll get back to representing the whole country and finding some level of unity. It's really a critical election. Buden has to be win. We could be looking at one crazy world if he doesnt.

For me the big issues are

1 the handling of the Covid crisis.
2 unemployment and the economy.
3 racism and black lives matter.
4 corruption fake news and fraud.
5 health care and Welfare.
6 rioting on Law & Order

You're not going to get them to sort out corruption, it's what helped there in the first place.

The economy would always be key for me, but it's slipped further down the list now.

1. Covid
2. Cultural unity (that covers 3 and 6 on your list)
3. Reinstating faith in the system

Couldn't put it better myself mate. I'm seriously considering leaving the country of Trump is re-elected. I know that California itself will not change dramatically should he be re-elected. But being a socialist myself, I think the culture wars, populism, authoritarianism of the country at large will be enough to push me to leave as I see the division between rich and poor, white and black, left and right increase.

It really will affect us in California. More division, culture wars, rioting. Trump will get heavier handed with the police force. His corruption needs to be checked and given another four years he'll basically have free reign. I think our country will be pushed towards anarchy if Trump wins again.

I've said the same. I'd really consider leaving the country if Trump won again. I'm married to an American though. Kind of stuck here.

I don't know much about American politics but i thought all the rioting, looting and violence was being done by mainly Biden supporters in Democrat run states? I'm glad i don't have to choose, but if i did i would vote Trump. What little i know about the Republican party they seem more in line with my conservative values as i'm getting older. The Democrats, like Labour over here, are trying to be everything to anyone rather than standing for something in particular. Patriotism seems to be the catch word these days.

All the BLM stuff and police shootings are summed up quite well by a Black former Police Officer called Officer Tatum. If anyone is interested check him out on YT.

I really feel for you mate, sadly since WW2, if the US sneezes the world catches a cold.

You also said...
1. Covid
2. Cultural unity (that covers 3 and 6 on your list)
3. Reinstating faith in the system
#1...Goes without saying, Trump is a complete moron in regards to this, and what does it say for the Rep. party to allow him to be this way?
to get # 3 IMO you have to establish #2, there is not many countries in the west that do not have this problem in some form or other, but it is more pronounced in the US. One of the biggest reasons for me is your 2nd amendment, which (IMO) the right (not even the far right, but obviously they are the worst) completely misrepresent this amendment now, it was written and added for different reasons in different times.
Samuel Huntington wrote (1992/93) The clash of civilisations, this theory has been debunked my many academics, yet still stirs some great debates. in 1998 then Pres. Clinton spoke at the UN basicly supporting the work of Huntington and claiming inevatibly there will be a clash between Western civilisation and Eastern Muslim civilisations. This of course is thought of as a "modern threat". We all know that is far from the truth. Plus in the US you have the added problem's of the Native (indigenous peoples) Indians, and are still trying to rid yourself of the Slave era. two area's where many are not ever going to let go and move on.

By removing Trump it will go a long way to help restoring faith in the system, I hope that the majority of American people see this as Trump is a dictator in waiting, and if re-elected you can bet the farm he will start working on how to get a 3rd term... the rules and law do not apply to this man.... Removing him is as much for the rest of the world as it is for your homeland.

Interesting to see the view of americans from California a state almost completely ran by Democrats, a state that accounts for some 35% of the homeless population of america , California if it were an independent nation would be 5th richest in the world yet this apparent socialist utopia does nothing to fix the issue instead implementing many laws that make the situation worse. Many democratic states bear similar comparison whilst also stoking the fires of anarchy - it's certainly an indication of what these apparent doogooders will transform the us in to. Can you imagine Kamala harris, sorry Biden The "well intentioned" moral highgrounders standing up to Putin and Xi, they will bow down not wanting to offend whilst they get walked over.

The next 4 years we can all pat ourselves on the back for been so righteous whilst the economy falls apart concealed behind a leftist media smokescreen. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I have no love for trump and didnt mention him, just pointing out that the Democrats will fix no problems and make many worse albeit with the guise of good intentions. you accuse me of gullibility whilst espousing some fanciful notion that trump will try to change the 22nd amendment to allow him a 3rd term on the route to becoming a dictator

 Did not accuse you off anything. I asked you, very different thing... Trump trying to instigate a 3rd term has nothing to do with the 2nd amanedment (Thats about the right to bear arms)Which is a problem in itself. Not sure what the 22 amendment is, will have to look it up... Trump is not on his way, he already is a dictator  ... Why do you think he has stacked the supreme court? Why do you think he is trying to stop mail in voting? and on and on ... defend him if you want to your opinion is as valid as mine, but at least have some kind supportive argument

Fingers crossed in this (UK) household that the polls stating that Biden is way ahead are true, this time. Hopefully they have locked James Comey in a basement. The usual news outlets are desperately trying (and this time) failing to implicate Biden in any sort of scandal, so they are going after his son, who has had drug dependency issues. It really is sleazy, and much like the main man himself. By the way, the Sky series "The Comey Rule" is a really good watch. Only three episodes, but deals with the 2016 election, and the role that former FBI Director James Comey played in it.
