NZ legalises euthanasia: Assisted dying to be legal for terminally ill people
A small country so far ahead of the UK
A government one can trust, a prime minister in Jacinda Adhern you can respect
A progressive country who stands for no nonsense & deals with it's internal problems efficiently

Re: New Zealand
Population of only 5 million.....lovely
UK.....65 million, not so good
Covid deaths in NZ = 25
Multiply their population x 13, NZ's equivinant death total would be around 325
UK & the rest of the world death totals significantly higher
USA = 229k
India = 121k
Brazil = 159k
England = 41k
France = 36k
Russia = 28k
Scotland = 2.8k
Wales = 1.8k
Northern Ireland = 700
New Zealand = 25
I refuse to include the Scots, Welsh & Irish in the bracket of the embarrassing English total, would be an insult to our UK counterparts.

Re: New Zealand
I reckon the NZ figures are accurate.
Where as UKs are not.
I personally know someone who died of heart failure, he was 94. His death was put down to covid19... No it wasn't.

Stats... Leon I know where you are coming from mate, but you cannot just use stats that way ... You compare UK to NZ by comparison to support your post(i.e. multipling the 5 mill of NZ by 13 to get an equivalancy of the 65 mill for UK.. Then you seperate the home nations without doing the same math to make England look bad...1964white wrote: βFri Oct 30, 2020 8:55 am Population of only 5 million.....lovely

the very nature of a smaller population must make it easier to control a pandemic outbreak.
Personally I do not believe the numbers from any country... I think they are higher, as (IMO) all are playing it down...
Re: New Zealand
Sorry Smudge, I disagree. I think the numbers are a lot lower.

The reasons we have a major problem particularly during the summer/autumn months is down to the buffoons running this country plus the irresponsible braindead society we live in.
I knew we would be heading to a total lockdown as soon as we opened the doors in July, now we are back to square one more or less!
Did you know more English, Scottish, Welsh & Irish citizens emmigrate to New Zealand than any other nations people.....I wonder why?

Re: New Zealand
Not that many of them though ...as still only a 5 mill population... I do think though that those Welsh that went took all their sheep with them... When I was stationed there the population was 4.25 million...and they had 65 million sheep ...

Re: New Zealand
You really need to look at population density - we are a much more crowded nation than New Zealand, and even 95% of the USA.

Re: New Zealand
If I was a young woman now I'd emigrate to somewhere like New Zealand
England is not the same country as it was many decades ago

If we were younger & the thought of not watching Leeds live are the two sticking points for me.radebe88 wrote: βFri Oct 30, 2020 3:41 pm Such an impressive country and brilliant Prime Minister. Jill & I don't wish to suffer when we come to the end of our tether so euthanasia would be a suitable option for us
