Covid...It's our turn..

Post by Smudge3920 »

Well Canada overall, and in particular our Province and our little City in the SE corner of Alberta is now getting a rude awakening... In less than a week our provincial (Alberta) numbers have doubled from 800(approx) daily to over 1600(approx) daily, last 3 days in a row...Monday the 16th Nov our little City (65,000 approx) had less than 30 cases, today we have 91 confirmed.... The Federal Government refusing to invoke any madatory laws, leaving it to the provincial governments... which in our case in Alberta our Premier is a "Trump" wannabee, not to the extent he is denying the virus , but is far more concerned about the economy than the people.
We had had 2 protest marches to date, one anti mask and another anti lockdownm... which just shows people like to protest for the sake of it as neither is in force!

Health services are screaming for an immediate lockdown to stop the spread...which is falling on deaf ears, even as the body count increases.

Sorry to hear that news Smudge

This is what occurs when people become complacent

We'll have the same problem come Christmas after we open up again next week

Dreading the after effects once complacency sets in as our selfish society will be intent on killing their own family, relatives & friends for what....to celebrate Christmas!

If you want to survive Covid then become a footballer. It appears that even if you are diagnosed as positive you make a recovery.

What conclusions can we draw from this?

They are nowhere near the age group that are at risk from Covid. They are also extremely unlikely to have an underlying health condition considering their athlete status, and finally, because they are very valuable assets belonging to very large and profitable commercial organisations, they will always receive the very best treatments that are available no matter what the cost. Based on these factors it’s little wonder that it’s just a bit of time off as far as most players are concerned.

if only it were true for the majority of the population. i don' t question the existence of the virus only it's severity with a certain percentage of the population.

Sweden has not gone with a lockdown policy and prefers to go with herd immunity... surely this is s recipe for disaster? Apparently not.

Hey Smudge,

Sounds like the Covid is kicking off big-style in Alberta. Until now I thought Canada was faring pretty well against Covid?

A Trump wannabe, what a thing to want to be :) Hopefully Albertans aren't as daft as some of the Yanks were when the Donald told them it's a great idea to drink bleach. But, by the sound of those protests it's a distinct possibility

We have our own dangerous clown as Premier here in Bulgaria, Boiko Borrissov :poo:

When Covid "officially" started here in March the government and medical pros were all over it and put some great controls in place that stopped the spread of the disease. Come June, pressure was applied to the authorities and all controls were lifted, cue vacations, tourists, party time, etc. The guys at the top of the food chain have filled their accounts and it's all gravy.

However, over the past month Covid is rampant here and way worse than earlier in the year when the controls were first applied. We had 189 die yesterday and averaging about 120 deaths per day lately, from a population of 7 million. Boiko and co are looking to implement some further controls later this week, but nothing like the strict controls we had in place during March-June. One of Boiko's ministers was in hospital the other day with Covid, and Boiko came on the tv to say there was nothing wrong with the guy, and that he should stop lazing around and get back to work - what a brilliant example for the country to follow

This thing will really kick off here during Christmas when everybody lands back full of Covid from abroad, and as an example some of the first cases here back in March were a UK family that decided to come skiing in Bansko, while all snottered up to the eyeballs with Covid. How daft are these people :flog:

Up to three households will be able to meet up during a five-day Christmas period of 23 to 27 December, leaders of the four UK nations have agreed

People can mix in homes, places of worship and outdoor spaces, and travel restrictions will also be eased.

Travel restrictions will be lifted to allow people to visit their families anywhere in the UK.

So our illustrious Premier of Alberta, made his announcement obviously trying to find middle ground, and failing drasticly...
1. All social gatherings in private homes are prohibited from Friday... family members only...fines of $1000 dollars for those breaking the rules.
2. All outdoor events, are restricted to 10 people including weddings and funerals.
3. All sports to cease forewith.
Now with all that in mind;
Restaurants and bars can remain open untill 10pm (last orders) out by 11pm. 40 % seating capacity!
No mandatory mask usage, except for inside public building's.

So other than telling people you cannot invite anyone into your home and will be fined if you do, and cancelling all sports... No change at all really.

What would we do without such decisive and brilliant leadership from our politico's!

We have politicians who have continually followed the science. Matt Hancock has insisted since March we must follow the scientists, it's all about the science, we believe in the science.

Now the idiot has announced a complete u-turn

The latest decision is similar to the one in the summer where they single-handed gave the nation a license to murder 1000's of people. Covid thrives on close contact, the scientists have warned our government that the latest decision will lead to a third wave.

Imagine people prepare to kill their loved ones just to have a jolly at Christmas-time?

This bunch of idiots in charge of our country should be handed a jail sentence

I totally despair!

Sounds about right!

I expect that when Covid was first encountered the MPs initial reaction was how much can we make out of this?

PPE, vaccines, etc = lovely jubbly :$$:

You would think that being at death's door due to Covid would give Boris some insight as to the risk involved with this Chrimbo Hoe Down? Likely not

As I've always said "All Tories must hang" ;-)

4000 died here in Alberta alone in 1918 from the Spanish Flu pandemic, out of a population of (approx) 150,000) Remember you can fit the UK into Alberta.

Wonder where the mask idea came from ?
