Raul Jimenez

Post by Cjay »

Thoughts with the Wolves striker and his family after the sickening collision with David Luiz.

Wont post a clip but it was a clash of heads at a corner accompanied by an awful and loud crack sound as the two players came together.

Luiz was alright and played on.

But Jimenez was taken to hospital and has suffered a fractured skull.

Hopefully he will resume his career but a fractured skull isnt a joke and has forced early retirement before.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

I understand what Raul is going through as I had a op for a subdural hematoma in my mid 20's

Awful stuff, every now and then you get these terrible incidents. Wish the lad a speedy recovery. We may see players wearing Rugby type headgear soon, or maybe heading will get banned altogether.

Petr Cech-esque

I'd be all for it if it could help to reduce these sort of things happening.

Worth mentioning Motor Neurone Disease too, very common amongst footballers and rugby players. Has taken the life of many, including Papa Boupa Diop just yesterday and of course our very own Don Revie.

As Shearer put it on MOTD2 yesterday, the Premier League and FA need to get serious about head injuries.

The very same injury ended Ryan Mason's career.
Hopefully Jimenez makes a full recovery but at the very least it will be a few months before he plays again I expect.
